Sagittarius - The Mighty Archer

The night background is very nicely put together. The human half of the Sagittarius archer is fabulous from the pose to the lighting. The area of the composition that needs a little more work to improve on the composition is the horse half of Sagittarius and way the light falls on the rock shelf he stands upon. First off there is just something that does not appear right about the proportion of the horse half - it torso and back end just seems a little too small or compressed. I could be wrong but to my eye, the back half is like that of a small pony rather than the full sized horse needed to support the weight of the human half. The other thing that would improve on the composition if you used something with actual hair that would have been put in place of the plastic tail. It would just add more realism to the scene. Lastly, the lighting on the underside of the rock shelf is too bright and doesn't match up with the lighting seen from the other rocks in the distance or the human half of Sagittarius. The position of the light the falls upon those elements is shining down from the top right corner. Still, a good effort and well composed.

Now that is a very bold presentation! I find it interesting how you placed the fish within the sign for Pisces. The bold lines of the pisces sign really draws the eye in and then leads you too the two fish. My first thought was the sign is on it's side and should be oriented the correct way. However, if you did that, it would change the whole dynamic of the composition because the fish will have to remain placed between those two curves.

Very well done composition. Love how you have presented them as they walk down the road (a leading line). The eye follows them as they walk towards the vanishing point. You have some nice warm tones/hues in the shot. I wonder if they really are twins or if the shot was taken at roughly the same time on a different day. They are wearing different jean shorts and the underside of the sneakers is different which make me lean towards the thinking they are twins.

Yup, you got me to look up the title and translate it. If google is right then this is a representation of Aquarius. I can see *now* where you are equating this to water but my first impression (and still is) is that it was the crackling of lightning.

The angle adds to the visual appeal of the composition. Low to the ground, my eye follows the lines and then the feet as I travel ahead to spot the large statue of Taurus/Toro. Processing is nicely done with some nice dynamic tones between darks and lights. The one thing that is a distracting element is that building that rises out from the bulls head - it almost acts like a third horn. Changing angle or getting lower would most likely not get the building out of the shot and it would change the great dynamic arrangement you have here in the shot now. Normally, you would not be able to edit that clock tower out, but with Expert Editing you could if you choose to do so.

Simple, clean, and stellar in presentation. The overall tan/beige color cast makes me notice and appreciate more the textures and shapes present in the composition. The color hue and the texture also complement the image in that the feel of gritty sand is there which goes rather nicely with the shell and the crab. High marks - very well done.

A rather interesting take that makes one think -the twins seem to be at odds with one another rather than working together. One is lounging on the sofa while the other stands behind and seems to have a catty attitude to her sitting sister. Indeed there is a dilemma here as this pair seems ready to call it quits and split up. Lighting is good on the model(s) but I wish there wasn't that distracting shadow upon the wall in back...it is almost like a shadowy 'third wheel' in that it attracts attention away from the main subjects.

The B&W tones are wonderful! Love the Victorian period dress - it makes me think of the lady and her gentleman suitor who has come to call. Love those very different smiles and the closeness between them. Don't know why exactly, but it makes me think of Louisa May Alcott's story, Little Woman. Congrats on the top 10.

Congrats on the 4th place finish Jenn! This is such a lovely shot of two best friends playing together - it is the smiles and hug that makes this shot.
