Horsing Aroundby NeilComment: Coming back to comment and upon review bumping up a notch.
O.K. now that is a rare and special capture:-) The horse seems to be hamming it up and smiling for the camera! Say cheese...er, I mean hay:-) Great capture of a photographer doing his trade. Lighting and composition of the main subjects are well done. The only critique I have is something odd may have happened with the processing as that there is an odd distortion grainy artifacts that happens in the trees in the back. |

Go your own wayby DennisheckmanComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Wow, the vibrant reds zip and take me down the road at warp speed. It leads my eye down to the city below. Love the details of the lights that shine and sparkle in the night. Very well done night shot - it is not easy to achieve that level of balance in detail when you have bright lights, long exposure, and night sky. Great job. |

Love the vanishing point to the horizon that the columns create. Light and detail is amazing. Great composition that highlights the beauty of this architectural structure. |

Introducing grain is a tricky thing - it can either add to an image or be an unnecessary addition. Here it acts as a great compliment. It adds to the sense of grit and edgy feel that is just further accented by the very dynamic B&W tones. The birds on the wire take flight and there seems a sense of foreboding in the air. The sky is gloomy which adds to that sense of 'something is about to happen'. It makes me wonder what message will these birds deliver. |

Ravioli trifolati ripieni di tartufi e porcini con salvia by h2Comment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Very, very nice and delicious to eat I might add just by eyeing the dish. Great lighting and angle make this food image very appealing to devour with the eyes. Love the details I can see especially down to all the textural details in the sprig of fresh (mint/basil?) leaf. |

Happy in Parisby eriksawayaComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
I like that this appears to be just a right place right time shot. I like the lady skipping and the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop - it is a little slice of time and place that you captured here. Nonetheless there are some things that could be better about the composition - some within possible control and others not (or maybe). First off the woman is wearing really dark clothes that portions of her does not contrast/pop off the dark tones of the car. If you took several shots and speed burst mayhap you captured one where she is skipping by the lighter colored car. That is the within possibilites to do the next suggestion may not be as possible. The dark car on the far right blocks what might be a great shot of the street that could act as a leading line/horizon line to the Eiffel Tower. If the car is turning (can't quite make out if there is a driver) then again continuous shooting may have rewarded you with all the right conditions. If the car is parked then those set of conditions sadly are not available such that you have to just seize the moment that you can. |

A Shadow Tuneby TiberiusComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment and bump up a notch.
Love the shadow on the sidewalk and the B&W presentation. It is a good shot and has potential to be even better. First off I think that it would be better if you moved your angle such that the musician is more on the lighter contrast wall. He is in dark tones so he gets a bit lost on the darker backdrop of the building. The down side is that you would probably lose the shadow on the wall because the musician will be blocking it. Second I only get a sense that he is playing an instrument from the title - could there have been a moment in time or better position that the audience could see more of the instrument and/or the stand with the music sheet? It may have been difficult to capture that moment, but I think it would help the visual impact more. The shadow on the sidewalk is great but my first impression was it was an artist sitting at an easel until I looked at the title. |

Great-granddaddy's toolboxby mefnjComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
This is a superb still life. Lighting is fabulous. The rough texture of the wood and the details of the old & rusted tools are illuminated perfectly. The tools may be old but this picture brings them back into the light of day such that they are no longer forgotten. Well done. |

FALLENby chromeydomeComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
I love the B&W tones in the composition. Great details and textures can be seen in the leaves and plant life. Love the composition as that it appears as if I am peering into the foliage to gaze upon those two dried leaves. |

Angel's Wingsby GeneralEComment: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
There is just something captivating about this composition. The feathers arranged like cast off angel wings is what truly makes this picture interesting. It makes me wonder why and how the angel cast off the wings. Was it done willingly or forcefully? The morning dew on the feathers is a nice touch for it adds another textural detail and conjures imagery of the morning (heh, perhaps it is tears for the lost angel and signifies mourning). The only critique I have is that I wish it was in more focus and detail on the left feather and the back of the right feather as that details are a bit soft. Perhaps greater DOF and some burning to get shadows and details back would help. |
