Ok "FIRE!!" is what I would consider and excellent example of Depth of Field. I think voters in this challenge were just looking for something dramatic, like some one jump off a bloody bridge. I think the photo you have taken is excellent. Personally I like the image and what it states. I think you did an excellent job with the focus and allowing the background to fade away but still leave the bright colored background. Personally I don't see anything I would change at all. Maybe if we had a history or revolution challenge, it would have faired better.

Wow this was one of my favorites, it is one of the most fitting for a Dead End challenge. I think a lot us probably thought wow a prison shot would be prefect (especially with the popularity of Prison Break on Fox) but who has access to a prison? Thank goodness it was you. This shot is set up very well. I think the man's expression and way he is stand greatly enhances the shot. I also really like the you included the Silence During Lock Down as well as the shadows of the bars on the floor. I really don't see anything I would change. Its a dark image but its not like you could make this a light or bright image. Good job, especially working with the surrounds and lighting.

Dead End - The Gorge

"Dead End - The Gorge" a perfect title for this shot, also this is one hundred percent meeting the challenge. What an amazing shot. I am so glad that you included the truck to show the perspective of how large the the gorge truly is. I know there have been comments about the truck. I think if it was not included I would have possibly question why this would be an dead end, except that the road ran out. I might have played with the contrast a little to see if you could bring some blue to the sky or possibly try a polarizing filter. Also I was surprised the truck wasn't close to the edge but after reading the description it makes complete sense. The lighting on the top of the cliff is very nice for the shot. Personally I am surprised you didn't finish higher, I think voters my have been looking for the drastic. I bet if you jumped the truck you would have a ribbon, just kidding. Great job on the photo!

Colors of Fall

Very nice capture of a fall landscape, very appropriate for the category. I think this was a harder challenge to stand out in, unless you had something a little unusual. The photo itself is very nice. I like the composition and how there really aren't any empty spots. Also I find the reflection in the water to be nice and inviting. I would have played with adjusting the contrast just to bring out the leaves some more. I really like the soft flow, and glow from the top of fence possibly from the sunlight. Personally I did vote higher then you scored. I felt this shot stood out above many of the other landscape. Good shot. I can see this shot on a card or calendar.
