Beautiful Newfoundland-Land, Sea and Skyby alinaComment: Hi Alina, I remember seeing this image during the challenge and thought to myself that you either left the image rotated on purpose or you were new to uploading photos. So looking it after the challenge I think you were trying to send a bigger message. The photo itself is very nice. I like that the foreground is in focus. I have read a lot about how important the foreground element is in landscape photography, and you nailed it. The coloring is very vibrant and warm. Great use of thirds on each level of the piece, the separation between fore, middle and background gives the image depth. The blues are very rich and make me want to go to the ocean. Nice work.

PrayingHandsby TrotterjayComment: Hi Trotterjay, nice entry into the Closed category, the concept is one I donât think most people would have thought of putting a piece together like this. The placement of the hands really grabs your attention. The lighting on the fingers is beautiful. I like that the cross is a big piece of the image. As a typical voter they may have not stopped and thought about how the cross was photographed in this image. I would imagine it was difficult. It does give the piece a sense of balance. I really like the work you have done. Looking through your portfolio you have a very strong sense of message in your art. Keep up the great work. |

Oppression can only survive through silenceby saraclicksComment: Hi saraclicks, your entry into the Closed category is very fitting for the challenge. The focus and message are very clear. I like the simplistic approach; we have one subject even though it is comprised of three things. I think the add of the pen stepped the this piece up from just having a hand in chains. The lighting is very strong and adds an element that grabs your attention and brings you into the fist. The subtle glow from the chain and lock really bring the piece together. Also placement, the black space really completes the piece. You have an amazing portfolio, keep up the great work. |

Violatedby drgooseComment: Hello and greetings. I really think the concept of the image is prefect for this category. Violated is something we donât want to feel, and seeing a broken lock defiantly invokes that feeling. The placement of the subject is great. I really think the use of the rule of thirds benefits this piece. The lock is immediately the first thing the eyes are drawn into. I am glad you chose black and white; I think color may have distracted the message. Also I think it was great that you were able to have a word like âDefenseâ appear in your image and show that the thing we rely on to defend us it broken. Overall very nice piece and smooth lines. Keep up the good work. |

DPI in RGBby TlemetryComment: Hi Tlemetry, I think your photo shows a lot of artistic vision. It is very difficult to photograph something you have created. Your concept is prefect for the challenge. The use of thirds draws the eye into the photo. I like the basic colors you chose; they are simple but easily understood. I was trying to determine if I like the image with the border or without. After stepping back and looking at it, I think the border ties the image together, without it the dots would not be contained and might appear to run off. So I would totally agree with your choice. I really like the angle and concept. Best of luck in the future. |
