Since this is outdoor the main thing that is key is time of day that the sun is overhead where the shadows would cast a minimum 'footprint' by barely being there OR that you wait for the sun to be partially hidden behind a cloud for a softer shadow or very little one at all. But that of course is up to Mother Nature and she operates on her own schedule much to the joy or annoyance of us photographers;-)

CNovack: Yes!!! I'm glad that I could convey a message. It seems you understood the pic as my first thought was to combine Dorothy and Mary Poppins: I even wanted to put an exit/phone-sign on the umbrella!!! but time was pressing.

My favourite season is autumn, and I really like the way you built this picture up: parallel dry leaves with old book. The only thing I would have done differently is cropping: cut out of focus leaves on top, and leave the crisp ones (in focus). But it's only my personal view and preference. In other respect: I like it!

The Book of Secrets

At first I was having issues with this picture. The following went through my mind looking at this photo for the first time: "There's nothing book-like about this picture," Where is the well known rectangular-shape, and where are the pages?" I just "turned the page" first, looking through the photos, and then later on I returned to The Book of Secrets, and I looked at it, again, but this time differently when its uniqueness finally reached my brain.

Very interesting photograph with nice contrast. I specially like the light and shadow part of the water. The only thing I would change is the direction the model is looking. She is kind of looking towards the outside of the picture, and that makes me think what is going on to the right. Nicely done!
