by messerschmittComment: Nicely observed! I love the bold graphic look of this and the way that the repeated patterns of lines and curves play off of one another. Nicely composed as well. I like that you have the van centered near the top. The leading lines of the pavers sweep our eyes across the image and lend it a very effective dynamic quality. |

moodswingby ErinMComment: Hi Shannon- I don't mind at all that you fiddled around a bit with my shot. Thanks for taking the time with it and for your nice comments. I had actually reworked the image myself in black and white with some additional cloning to portions of the top, but never reposted the new version. While I think that a b&w conversion improves the image in some ways, I also find that I miss the earthier tones of the original color version. I see where you were going with the tighter crop too. Although I think that the crop to the top doesn't leave quite as much head room as is needed, it does serve to isolate the major elements and eliminates some of what could be considered a distraction from the simplicity of the shot. Thanks again for the attention that you gave to the photo! You're a sweetie!

From-The-Begining.jpgby EVincentComment: Beautifully composed. Exquisitely detailed. I love the choice of black and white for this image. This is a fine example of finding the art in what most often would go unnoticed. Please post more! |

Hostageby JutildaComment: Whoa! Just saw this and it made me stop short in my tracks. Even though this is set up, it still comes across as extremely emotive. I think that the tones and lighting are just perfect. The darkness enhances the palpable sense of fear that you've created without overwhelming any of the details. Your score deserved to be much higher, but this is the kind of image that is going to pull people in different directions based on their own particular sensitivities. I didn't vote, but I would have been inclined to score this a 9 or 10. |

The Pitby SherwinJamesComment: I love how this image is recognizable for what it is, but also has an almost abstract quality that stimulates the imagination. The inspired point-of-view packs a lot of visual punch! Adding to favorites! |

Intermezzoby yankoComment: You have a real flair for dramatic skies! This has so much visual impact, especially with the graphic sillhouette at the bottom. Adding to favorites! |

Monolithby yankoComment: Love the drama that you captured through perspective and enhanced with excellent post processing. I agree with you about the reflection on the building. I kind of like it there too...I think that it adds an interesting visual dimension to the image. |
