My son is highly sensitive and had just had a major meltdown after a long walk to get to this beach. He finally worked out of his irritable mood by dragging his feet to make designs in the sand.

I would love to see this cropped much tighter and see others have made a similar suggestion. I like this one for it impact with the strong lined etched into the sand by the young man. It does give a feeling of frustration so well. I like it.

Hi Shannon- I don't mind at all that you fiddled around a bit with my shot. Thanks for taking the time with it and for your nice comments. I had actually reworked the image myself in black and white with some additional cloning to portions of the top, but never reposted the new version. While I think that a b&w conversion improves the image in some ways, I also find that I miss the earthier tones of the original color version. I see where you were going with the tighter crop too. Although I think that the crop to the top doesn't leave quite as much head room as is needed, it does serve to isolate the major elements and eliminates some of what could be considered a distraction from the simplicity of the shot. Thanks again for the attention that you gave to the photo! You're a sweetie!

Hey Erin! I am really really taken by this image. I think that it is absolutely beautiful. I tried out some different post processing techniques on it, I hope you don't mind. Please let me know if you would like me to unpost them.

I really like that theres a story behind this image, and also that the lines he created with his feet lead your eye straight to him. I think biteme was right that B&W with dodging and burning would look awesome!..also maybe crop out a little bit of the left side and clone out the people in the background? Nice photo :)

this is probably a very emotive photo for you, reading your info about it. this photo tells a story. ofcourse, I couldn't make out of it the exact story, but there is something in it, and I think that makes this photo pretty strong.
did you try B&W? I think that'll suit the story even more, don't know why.
