2.by suemackComment: I think that this layer works really well with this portrait; we just need to see her eyes a bit more clearly. Try using the eraser tool set to about 30% opacity to start, focusing on just the eyes. I might also try erasing some of the layering effect from the rest of her face and hair, so that we still see the effect, but she's not so hidden behind it (maybe at about 15% opacity). I'm totally new at this too, but it's been really fun experimenting so far. :) |

Nov-01-mums-and-oil-slick.jpgby JerseyGenieComment: Nice image to begin with, and an oil slick texture is a pretty cool addition. I would probably be inclined to erase the effect of the texture a bit more from the flower areas, and let it run through the negative space more predominantly. Maybe trying out some different blending modes would be kind of fun too. |

textures-day-1.jpgby LanndonKaneComment: Nicely composed, with nice lines. I like how the effect of the textured overlay increases as it moves toward the outer edges, forming a frame of sorts. |

Day 1by ordinaryangelComment: The deep dark tones really suit the mood of the image. I like how you've allowed the subject to be highlighted. |

Distressedby shalrathComment: Great shot to use with an overlay. I love how adding texture can save an image with a bland sky and turn it into a real focal point. Good choice with the sepia on this. Really suits it. |

Overlay-day-1.jpgby joynimComment: Great combination of brilliant color, but with a muted feel to the overall image. Looks like it could be a pastel drawing. Nice! |
