The shadow of the hand seems to detract from what is otherwise a good straightforward portrait. 5

Interesting, and at least it doesn't look the same as every other photo submitted, but I don't think the grainy look works. 5

I really like this shot a lot. The raggedness of it is very effective. The crop is great, lighting is good, everything else seems sound. Nice work. 8

The tone of the title doesn't seem to fit the shot.

The eye really stands out, which is a good thing. The shot as a whole is somewhat uninteresting though. 4

I'm not sure why it's scaled down to smaller proportions than necessary (perhaps for image quality problems?). It's a good snapshot, but it doesn't offer much in the way of a unique or dramatic presentation of your subject. Playing around with a different crop, a closer shot, different lighting, or a different perspective might make for a more interesting shot.

It's so nice to see a more unique shot among all these portrait entries. The amount of negative space on the right side might be a little overkill, but I like that it's there in the first place. Cropping the mouth out produces a very intresting effect, because it forces the eyes to provide all the expression, which works well here. I'm not sure if I would have left the entire nose in or if I would have cropped it just a little bit higher, but that's something I think I'd have to tweak and see how it looked. Anyway, a great shot that I enjoyed very much. 8

It would be better without the shadow from the flash, and it would help if she were looking a bit more towards the camera. 5
