It looks like a slightly faster shutter speed would have helped you freeze those wings in place, but the focus on the head is great and the shot is still a good one.

I like this. The black hair with just the highlights showing through, and having it draped over her eye, which also only shows the highlights, all produces a nice effect. The smile is a bit awkward perhaps. I'm not really sure about the hint of red in the bottom right. I can't decide if it adds another point of interest or throws off the balance of the shot. Probably both, so I'm not sure whether that hurts it or helps it, but it's an issue to consider carefully: whether you want that to introduce a strong red without making it very important to the shot.

The whole shot looks a little out of focus/blurry. Consequently this lacks enough detail to make it as interesting as it could have been.

You're the One

If you're going to do a flower shot, it needs a way to stand out, since it's a cliche shot. With the shadows, the leaf obstucting part of the flower, and the lack of excelent sharpness on this shot, it ends up looking very generic among the many other flower shots. The first step to making this better I think would be to work on better lighting. Then I'd try to mix it up by trying a more unique angle, framing, or else get in really close. Good luck.

The lense flares are cool, but the rest of the shot has not detail due to the contrast, leaving it rather uninteresting overall. That's too bad because the beams of light in the background look like they offered a lot of potential, but thye just don't come through very strongly because the shot is completely dominated by the sun flare in the top right.

Helping Hand

It an interesting idea, but this photo seems to have been sapped of all the potential emotion that is present. To some extent I think we fill in the gaps naturally, assuming the awe of the boy and the tender smile of the officer, but you've cut that all out of the shot. The boy is completley passive in this shot, and the officer's hand carries a little bit of expression, but other than that the figures in this shot are cold and unemotional, which certainly couldn't have been the intention. I think including the officer's face isn't necessary, since having it cut off adds to the feeling that he is larger than life in the eyes of the child, but perhaps a side angle that showed the kids face or at least some pose with more expression to it would make this a much better shot.

I think I'd have gone black and white on this shot, if for no other reason than to keep that yellow sign in the background from drawing attention to itself.
