Industrial townby xantangummiComment: Visually straining (in a good way) so as to force the viewer to focus on the intended subject. It feels like my eyes are crossing when I attempt to focus on the background! :)
Speaking of the background - it seems so well captured as a blur that it looks very 3D, as if it's 30 layers back/deep. It also looks as though it's several shots superimposed on one another and then layered under the subject. Quite complex.
Awesome; I love this shot!
Well deserved ribbon - congrat's! Message edited by author 2007-04-18 22:41:43. |

4.75by ImagineerComment: One of my few posts...
I happened to stumble over this photo, and... POWERFUL!
To me, before reading your setup comments, I first thougth of how HUMAN this shot is with all subjects seemingly in the fetal position. It spoke to me about generations (and unborn generations waiting to fulfill their destiny.) And then after reading your notes Jon, I have to say - Yikes! sticking your tripod through the light fixture 8-O I imagine there was some tension in the waiting for the thing to stop moving around ;-)
At any rate - Great shot!! I find it difficult that anyone could find it inappropriate or offensive. It amazes me that we all have these bodies (they only come in two models folks, with very few options from the factory!) and have programmed ourselves to be so ashamed of looking at them... oh well. Excellent! Added to my fav's!
Thanks! |

Her Last...by danderson107Comment: Registered here well after challenge, so no vote avail from me. I did want to comment on the focus decision. Having the focus on teh razor indicates the act that is the theme, yes? Having the subject/her eyes slightly out of focus, I think kind of fits the theme as well. If she's truly checked out (gone or going), most likely her vision is out of focus or fixed (read dead). Since there is no way to convey what she is seeing (or not as the case may be), the only way to describe such is to have her slightly out of focus... to convey that she's already gone.
just my $.02
Great shot IMHO.
I would have to agree with you & others on the blood being a little too neat & tidy.
Cheers!
