Readingby LahnetComment: The composition of this shot is nice but it's a little dark and (I've been asking this a lot in judging this challenge), why did you use black and white? It doesn't seem to add anything to the image. It seems that this shot, portraying a relaxed feeling of comfort, would have been nice in muted/softened colors. |

Belleby ArtanComment: I'm not sure why you chose to convert this to black and white - it really doesn't add anything to the image. Generally, it's a nice shot and with the advanced editing rules you could have done a lot with it in color. |

Grandpaby NuserComment: I have to admit that this shot really did make me smile. While technically not a perfect shot, you've done an really good job of capturing emotion. |

If Eyes Could....by djoubertComment: this is a nice shot but the white balance seems off to me. A little two yellow. Was that intentional? |

"Urban Cowgirl"by RitaDComment: I like this shot. Having your subject wear brown (roughly the same color as the horse) really makes for a sense of unity between the two.
I would really like to see more of the model's face though. The image seems unbalanced because I can see the horses face but not the girl's. How strange does THAT sound? |

Portrait By Window Light by scarbrdComment: I normally hate shots of kids as too many people rely on their inherent "cuteness" rather than exploring them as an interesting subject. You've done an excellent job of using a child as a model.
Her eyes are all the more compelling because of your choice to shoot the rest of the shot as nearly monochrome and while there's no denying the "child's innocence" and sense of wonder, you could almost substitute an adult and get nearly as good a shot. Great work. |

Skaterby jpetersComment: Nice use of light! The outline of the skater is wonderful. However, there is an awful lot of black in the image which, to me, makes the image seem "heavy". |

G R E e Nby heavyjComment: Nice shot. The use of complimentary colors is almost always a good choice and the colors are nicely vivid without being over saturated. However, I feel there is just a little too much empty space above your subject's head. The photo doesn't feel balanced to me. |
