Autumn Morningby hahn23Comment: Yes! Someone gets the meaning of the S-Curve as a compositional tool! And a really nice shot to boot. |

"S" is For Street!by 777STANComment: That's a pretty dramatic tilt. I'm not seeing the purpose though. It doesn't seem to add any interest. |

ancient gracefull lady with artistic "S" curves in her bodyby ankit_mohabansiComment: Not trying to be mean here but as part of the purpose of this site is to learn, I wanted to make mention of the point of the challenge.
An S-Curve is a compositional tool, like the rule of thirds or leading lines, that helps in making the image stronger. Normally, the S-Curve is to lead the viewer's eye through the image or to the subject. I've noticed a lot of submissions that simply include an S shape somewhere in the image but this misses the point.
If used properly, the S-Curve is a very powerful compositional tool. While your shot is nice, the "S" that you've included is really just an element and doesn't really lead the viewer's eye.
I do hope you'll take this as I mean it. I certainly don't mean to criticize your image. |

Sonataby craigesterComment: this is a beautiful shot and I voted well for it. That said, the challenge isn't strongly represented in your shot and I would have voted better for it if the challenge were more prominent in your shot. |

Cape Kiawanda Oregonby willhadlComment: This is a really nice sunset. That said, the concept of the s-curve is a device that leads the viewer's eye either through the image or to the subject. I'm not getting either in this (very nice) shot. Your subject, the intersection of the sunset and the rock's silhouette, is so strong as to take control of the image.
Please don't think I'm just ragging your shot. It really is a great shot. I'm just not getting the challenge from it. |

500milesby GmitComment: I'm not sure if it was intentional but your image has a lot of noise. To be honest, I actually like it on the derailer itself but it's pretty distracting in the background. I'd love to see you do this image, again, with a cleaner back ground but maintaining the noise on the derailer itself. |
