Reflecting upon yesterday...by danica22Comment: This image feels a bit harsh for such an introspective theme. nicely composed (and great hair!) but i think it's the looking up that gives the disconnect. A softer shot with this composition would work well, but the clarity of focus here gives the picture a mixed message to my eye. Wish I could do self portraits like you, though! They are beautiful.

Impendingby maxjComment: The colors in this photo are really stunning. Magnificent sky capture. Because the sky is so foreboding, and going along with your title, I would like to see less grass and more sky. I would also like to see the house be smaller so that the viewer really gets the feeling of "oh crap, here we are in this lonely house and the sky's about to raise holy heck on us!"

bubblesbrighter.jpgby maxjComment: This is the first image that really caught my eye. Like the composition very much, I agree with the previous commenter about cropping the bright side of the tree out. I love your model's pose, but with a slightly different front hand placement to reduce emphasis (perhaps resting upon the knee instead...) Your DOF is good, and the hat adds a lot of visual interest...can't quite see the model's face and it keeps you looking. Love how the model is blowing bubbles like chewing on a blade of grass.

flyflying.jpgby kenskidComment: Hi!
I know it's blurry, but not all shots need to be in focus to be effective, imo. This capture is fascinating with the fly in flight and the texture of the foreground. I would have liked to see more space around the top and left of the frame to balance things out just a bit...but the blur adds to the feeling of movement in the shot. Great colors and an amazing capture.

sanibel butterflyby ArpeggioAngelComment: like the centered composition and square crop for this. the lower left section of the butterfly (wing) is looking washed out in comparison to the rest of the butterfly, which is a bit distracting to my eye. lovely colors and dof. like how the guy's holding on to the white flower...nicely sets off the white spots on the butterfly. |

Nowhere Else To Go by GolferDDSComment: wow! what a setup! i never would have guessed...but then again, they weren't hanging from girders from a helmet or anythinglike that. congrats on an innovative composition and well-deserved blue!

Spentby JRalstonComment: this is the first image that actually caught my eye as interesting! congrats on a novel idea and a great holiday card! my only criticism would be that the lighting on the spot lighting on the right side of the hat could have been a little bit softer or more diffused...it doesn't really show until the third photo, but the third one looks a bit harshly lit (changing the color of red in the hat). it's a minor thing, but it's the one thing that i'm noticing.
congrats again on an AWESOME idea and fun holiday card. |

A1 Grand Prix of Nations - Team Brazilby boomeraklComment: Aha! Now I understand...
This image has some great colors going for it, and such an interesting looking subject! I wonder what would happen if you rotated the photo just a bit so that the race car was holding on to that road and coming more towards the lower right corner of the image? After cropping it would be a subtle adjustment and the lines in the photo (track/grass) would lend more energy to that superfast race car image.
A very nice capture. Nice and clear. If it weren't for the tires spinning frantically, it would look like a still shot it's that clear!
