I love the photo itself and you did a good job on producing a duotone. The border though is very obtrusive. I would have preferred to see a border like old photographs had - plain simply off white.

While this is not the classical Still Life shot, is certainly does meet the challenge.
My first impression is a feeling of cramped; too tight of a crop.
A bit more space would have been nice. The lighting is good. I especially like the flare up top, as it makes the viewer think of a spirit hovering over that which has been left behind.
The table does look a bit cluttered. A more striking image may have been presented by removing all but one or two objects on the table. The spoon on the floor is good...leave that!
Overall an interesting shot. Keep on shooting. I look forward to seeing more from you.

Positives: The extreme close up ensures the viewer will notice the rain drops and not just think "ok, another flower shot". The composition works well. I like the diagonal line my eye follows.
You have captured the beautiful coloration of a deep purple that really catches the eye.

Negatives: The lighter purple flower part in the upper left (stamnin ?) looks as if it was not in very good focus and you tried over sharpening it to correct that flaw. When I see a flower, I think of soft and dainty, not harsh like this.

Looking closely at this image, the drops that I like the most are those that lie tangential to the flower petal. Perhaps shooting at a more tangential angle over all would have created an even more interesting point of view of the raindrops.

I like this shot as far as the story it tells. Good DOF, but yet the colors seem muted giving a flat feel. Still, I think this may have done better then the shot you entered into the FS

I didn't vote on this challenge, but read your post in the threads. I think the big thing that hurts this is the blown highlights. Other than that it still lacks the wow that the higher scoring shots have.

I do like the stalking walk of the kitty, and the intense look in the eyes. Just think the technicals needed work.
