I've spent several minutes now looking at this. My first reaction...an old object someone has discarded outside. Second....an old fashioned washer that was the norm at one time. I just cannot get to where I feel poverty. To the person who could never afford this, and they had to use rocks, this was a luxury.

I'm not getting a sense of poverty here. I often find myself with no more than one dollar in my pocket, but I am not poor. This just doesn't convery the emotion of poverty to me.

Good use of an object up front to give depth/dimension. I find this image to be over sharpened, which makes it a bit harsh on the eyes.

I like the idea, but the low angle this is shot from may be too low. My eye gets drawn to the backends of the horses more than to suburbia
