From the Vine to the Wineby karenkComment: There is nothing that is wrong with this shot - and pleas don't take this the wrong way - but it's not that interesting. Well shot, the exposure is well controlled and the DoF is spot on, but it's not WOW.

Q: Fruit or Vegetable?by TonyTComment: Fruit - this is a confusing world.
The arrangement of the objects is good on this, however knive + chopping board = chopped (although I would have accepted sliced ;-) tomatoes.
The colour in the tomatoes is good, but becarefull of the blown highlights, they tend to pull the eye away.
There also looks like a bit a Noise Reduction went on there, things look a little soft and a touch too smoothed over.
Good luck with this (4) |

Healthy Pyramidby DigiFotoBuddyComment: IMHO the highlights are far too blown on the tops of the more shiney fruit.
I find it odd how there is a harsh shadow underneath the front row of fruit and then a colour cast by the fruit onto the background.
The colour are nice and punchy and it does fit the challenge well. (3) |

Fruit Salad, anyone?by levyj413Comment: I like the colour and the composition of this, however I feel it is let down by the blown highlights on the top of the apples and satsumas.
As I can see some dark shadows at the edges of the friut, I suspect that this was shot on white paper, rather than a light-table, and some post processing was done to acheive the brillent white background. It looks a litte too cut & paste for my taste.

Bowl of Chiliby neophyteComment: The colour and composition of this is great, however the harsh lighting and distracting background let this down for me. The highlights are blown on the edges of the chilis, which is a shame.
Good luck with this (4) |

Between greenby rameviComment: I do really like this shot, but the highlights are slightly blown on the left edge of the Cauilflower. I'm also not a big fan of the border, IMHO a solid white stroke border at half the width would be better for this.
I do however love the colours and the good use of DoF to add depth to the shot.
Good luck (5) |

"Strawberry Temptation"by ThaiComment: two's company, but three is better ;-)
I would have gone for three strawberries - not becasue the rule book says you should, but because I feel this shot is slightly unbalanced with only two.
That said, this still has a good composition, as well as great lighting and nice DoF which sets it off well. The curves of the cream lead the eye left to right and back again which helps me to explore the whole shot. However shouldn't there be more of the strawberries reflection?

Avo Coutureby escapetoozComment: Technically this is well shot. Great lighting, great studio setup, and great model - but this random collection of fruit and veg thrown on the model just doesn't sit right with me, sorry to be vague but I can't put my finger on it.
I'll give it a (5) for now, but I may come back and re-visit this one.
Good luck. |

Eight Berries Picked by a Princessby weiszComment: Great use of a shallow DoF and the focus is good on the handfull of berries.
I'm a fan of the punchy & contrasty style of photography, so lacks in those areas for my - thats just an opion, so don't take that too personally - however you do score high for me in originality in approach to the challenge.
Good luck with this (6) |

Litter?by glad2badadComment: ooooooo - earthy - and a crackin' take on an otherwise 'samey' challenge.
I love the shallow DoF and the lighting is great to. Well controlled exposure, with all the bits in the right place.
