This could've used a little tighter crop IMO. Swans are just not quite the subject they could be if they were a little closer. Nice colors and a very peaceful atmosphere.

This is a pretty nice picture. Applicable to the challenge? Big big stretch. I'm not thinking they have mountains like this in Kansas. I could be wrong, But from what I remember Auntie Ems Place was mighty flat. Great colors for this rainbow, good find and good capture

Looks like 2 guys out there. The picture is a little grainy too down to where the water meets the sand.

Composition - First thought on this image is that it should've encompassed the entire 640 width. Smaller images are prone to do worse than big ones before the first pixel even shows on the screen. The rule of thirds was followed really well here and works for this photo. I personally, would not have chosen this subject because of the depth of it and also because I don't think its of high interest value to the voters. You've done a very nice job with the colors of the peach though. The reds are very vivid, which is a major plus. As far as this particular subject is concern, I think the technical part of it is much more a problem than the composition part.

Technical - The depth of field is too shallow for this subject. I would say that pushing the limit on your f# to allow for more DOF and adding a lot of light would be the best fix. Your shutter is already fairly slow, going up to f8 or f11 would require quite a bit more light or a lot longer shutter speed, which can be problems in itself with noise and such, or your ISO goes to 400 (I think that's the max on your cam) and it gets grainy. To get most of this in focus though, I think that's the best option. Seems to me the area right behind the brown part is most in focus and I'm assuming that the brown part is supposed to be the focus based on its position in the frame.

Overall - Not a bad image, but not a particularly strong one due to focus concerns and choice of subject. And despite what most women say, on DPC, size matters :) You've done a lot to make it as good as it is though. Some things are just lucky shots, and some things you make work, and this is one that can be attributed to the eye of the photographer and not just luck. I think its real close to being as good as you could make it. Judging by the settings of the cam, It makes me wonder if you are shooting in a priority setting or program mode. I hate to try to pass judgement on these things without actually knowing because it can sound condescending if you don't say it right. If I sound that way, I'm honestly not trying to be. Good Luck in the future and take care - Bob

looks like some resolution woes on this one. The lines are all broken up due to res probs and or compression probs.

This isn't quite as sharp as it should be. I dont' really buy the expression either, its the same general idea, but doesn't quite have the same effect. Maybe a different kid would've yielded a more favorable result. Good luck anyway!

I don't see any part of this photo that is truly in focus. I'm not wild about the subject either. I guess it fits the challenge, just not my tastes in subjects.
