Greeting the Sunby YellowpeepComment: Excellent capture. I'd have like to seen the lion facing the camera just a little bit more. Its still an excellent shot. Great background, sky is a really nice color. His face has a couple minor hot spots under his nose, but it would be difficult to darken this down without losing the details in the body. Overall good quality shot 7 |

the pelicanby grigrigirlComment: Excellent photo. I think this lighting creates a lot of interest. Crop is just a little tight for my taste, but it isn't hurting anything either. Nice work |

BioDomeby JC_HomolaComment: Greeting from the Critique Club JC

This incidentally is the 3rd time I've tried to do this picture. Luck is not on my side
Composition - This image to me needs to go one way or the other. By that I mean that you have a nice abstract type pattern here, or you might have a good picture of the whole thing. This seems to me to be a little of both and frankly I don't think it works well. You have some great color and great pattern to build on, but not much else. The trees and stuff at the bottom need to be in there or they don't. From this distance, it's difficult to determine what the subject actually is. If it were closer, I'd say the metalwork. Sometimes stuff at the bottom or in the corners of photos is there for perspective, but I can't see what needs to be put in perspective on this shot.
Technical - This is just a little bit soft, but nothing to write home about. The framing looks a little crooked, probably by design. I don't think it really adds or detracts from the image at all. The color is super.
Overall - I don't see where exactly you were going with this, which I think was a lot of the problem with your score. I don't like saying its subjectless, but I don't have a better way to say it. Getting right up to the steel girders would make a better argument that the girders were the subject. I guess in the grand scheme of things, having a subject isn't required for every picture. On the other hand, the majority of non-landscape shots should have a definite subject or 2 even if just for something to focus on. Take care and good luck - Bob |

Heartland Morningby cshepComment: This would be a more effective picture if the beast's head wasn't buried in the grassy stuff. Nice warm colors. |

Misterious Ladahkby rhipsterComment: excellent color. Good sharp clear crisp pic. I can see this still life being a possible NG choice, but I don't say that with a lot of conviction. It is a very nice illustration of these pieces. |

Forgotten Peopleby browntComment: The framing of this shot couldn't be better. This is an excellent photojournalistic shot with some good creative stuff too. It is emotive and visually impacting and I think a great shot. Outside of the buliding is just a little extra hot. I totally understand why, but it still is hot. So you'll have to settle for 9 |

"The Look"by PedroComment: Great shot. Maybe just a pinch dark. The expression is great. The detail is very good as well. Nice work 9 |

Thistle and beeby trainComment: The bee is moving too fast or he isn't in your focal plane. The thistle's pickers seem to be in focus but the bee is too blurry. The colors don't pop like they should either. I'm wondering what ISO this was shot in. |

Urban Squirrelby PaulMdxComment: The exposure on the squirrel is spot on. The snow is a little bright. Where is his cheeseburger? You just expect him to eat fries? This is a cute shot, but I'm not really sold on it being a great photo for this challenge. If he were in a tree, eating curly fries, then I think I'd be more apt to vote it higher. Really, its a good shot of the squirrel. I'm just not keen on the environment you shot him in. |

Big Catsby svitalComment: Maybe its just me, but this doesn't look like a real cheetah. I guess in all fairness, I've never seen one this close in person. The thing I really don't like about this is the lifeless eyes. Catchlights in the eyes make them much less dead. |
