Untitledby lionelmComment: Looks like a security camera video. Reminds me of something from the crying game. I do think it shows despair and I think that the primitive look to this photo is fairly effective representing the point of the picture. |

Please Help Me!by STEINRComment: Looks like they're napping to be perfectly honest. The contrast is a little too much judging by the whiteness of the hands and conversely dark clothes. |

Hiding from the Painby PaigeComment: Good emotion portrayal. Like the lighting and B&W was a sound choice. I think it would've been better if you wouldn't have cut off so much of the head. |

Composition - You could've used this photo for any number of recent challenges, yellow and perspective come to mind right away. The sky looks a gorgeous blue color... too much so even. The sky is pixelating probably from oversaturation. The subject has very good colors and is a pretty good candidate for a rhythm shot. The building this is attached to provides a good distraction for this pic. Unfortunately we aren't looking for "good" distractions and actually is a bit of an eyesore. I am sure it HAS to be there to hold the tower up. The tower would've been great if it could've been standing there on its own. It does have some great colors and is well worth taking pics of.
Technical - Nice clear shot! Very well taken. Good exposure and DOF. The big hangup in the processing area is the pixelating sky. The rest of the colors seem like they are ok. The angles of this shot are quite puzzling with neither of the structures being vertical nor horizontal on their axes. I'm not saying that's bad, but perhaps a bit "curious" instead.
Overall - A pretty nice shot with very nice color (except for the sky). Very well taken picture with some abstract angles. I think it meets the challenge pretty well. Nice pic, good luck in upcoming challenges - Bob |

The Bus Barnby dadas115Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition - Good subject for yellow. One I thought might get done to death. Looks like you shot this on a pretty crummy day. It looks very dreary and honestly it doesn't help your pic at all because a) it looks very dreary for the background and b) There needs to be a little more light/exposure for this picture. The ugly green garage in the back is also not helping matters. The composition to me, is fair. A better day, maybe pretty good. I think you could've done a lot more things if you were inside the fence, but that's sorta what its there for. Cropping some of the stuff off the top of this photo and making it semi-panoramic might have been a good idea. The trees above the barn aren't helping this image.
Technical - A really well taken photo. You sort of lose a little of the wheels from being slightly underexposed. This is one of those pics I could see actually desaturating all the colors but yellow to see if you can make it seem a little less dreary. I'm suprised the trees behind the garage got a little fuzzy at f8 from this far away. Maybe it's just the distance.
Overall - This is a pretty good picture taken on a pretty bad day. Very well taken. You did well with what you had to work with and I think the voting showed that. Good job and good luck in the upcoming weeks' challenges. - Bob |
