| 03/11/2002 07:08:00 PM | The Roseby speaseComment: OK, another rose. The background is a little busy, I think, and the lighting a little hard-edged for a soft subject -- perhaps try lighting by reflection or putting white (or red) fabric in front of the sun. That might also help the orange tinge on the rose. |

| 03/11/2002 07:05:00 PM | How Bout Them Apples!by shortredneckComment: Many random comments: - some apples are red. These ones look kind of purple, though... - I think the lighting is a little hard (and blue, possibly resulting in the purplish look of the apples); the rearmost ones kind of fade into the background, so there's a lack of distinction between the named subject and its framing. The apples could use a polish, too... - Cropping the apples at the edges implies to me that there's continuation of the apple-field -- but the second row is incomplete, which doesn't bear this out. Again, lighting of the background causes the subject to fade away. - Food photography is always tricky; if you're trying to make something look appetising (so people will like it and vote for it), I think it's important to have it be clean. Perhaps next time throw something else in for contrast |
