Many random comments: - some apples are red. These ones look kind of purple, though... - I think the lighting is a little hard (and blue, possibly resulting in the purplish look of the apples); the rearmost ones kind of fade into the background, so there's a lack of distinction between the named subject and its framing. The apples could use a polish, too... - Cropping the apples at the edges implies to me that there's continuation of the apple-field -- but the second row is incomplete, which doesn't bear this out. Again, lighting of the background causes the subject to fade away. - Food photography is always tricky; if you're trying to make something look appetising (so people will like it and vote for it), I think it's important to have it be clean. Perhaps next time throw something else in for contrast |

I would have washed the apples before taking the photo, the white residue detracts from the picture. Otherwise nice shot, they look good enough to eat! |

I think the flash has really desaturated the red. It looks like the camera's colour-balance is set wrongly, which makes the flash blue and therefore washes out the red. Also it might have been better to focus tightly on fewer apples to get more skin texture detail. |

maybe if you put them in a more interesting situation |

I don't think using the flash was the best idea here. The red is sort of bland, and the arrangement of the apples isn't terribly exciting. But I do like apples. |

Ya, how bout them un-shiny/dirty apples! :) Interesting setup and framing though. |

throw apples on the floor and shoot them, and win. No, it takes more thought than that. |

The shot seems to be unfortunately cool (blue) probably due to the flash. Natural light would add some warmth and do wonders. |

Apples were a good idea, however the red doesn't make an impact for me. Maybe you could change the composition a lil' as well. Maybe get the apples from a different angle or stack them up in a pyramid :). Good technical skills though. |

I find the lighting to be a bit harsh, and the background to be a bit distracting. |
