PLB-Pair_IMG_5580-FPC-DPC.jpgby GeneralEComment: I really like this shot. One thing that bothers me is the harshness of the light from the right. It seems to wash out the butterfly on the right and some of the flowers. The composition is great and I personally LOVE purple! I think you could probably even turn up the color saturation a bit. Very nice shot. I also like the fact that you've blurred out the background - it's appropriate in this setting. Message edited by author 2005-06-11 23:43:21. |

Doing Hairby LadeeMComment: Nice shot. I would like to see more of both the girls' faces & expressions though. I like the use of B/W (although the lighting is a little harsh - you might be able to tone down the luminosity/brightness). I also really like the border - nice choice! |

Daisies - For Loveby LadeeMComment: FANTASTIC flower shot! I LOVE the glow of the lavender petals. You really did a nice job processing this - the detail and colors are exceptional. In an "appropriate" challenge I would have scored this very highly. I'm jealous & curious as to how you achieved this particular effect. Really nice job! :-)

I've also added it to my Favorites... (Quite an honor for a "flower" shot - not usually one of my particular faves.) Message edited by author 2005-06-10 20:39:47. |

Lunar bath saltsby smilebig4me1xComment: We have luna moths in VA too (and I was just able to capture one a few days ago - on camera). Fantastic display of colors and composition. As several other people have said, I think that if you could have been able to remove the additional glass in the upper right it would have helped your score. You still received an 8 from me.
Also, I'm curious as to how you achieved the similar magenta color on the edge of the moth, as I don't recall them having that particular color at all. Don't get me wrong - it's brilliant that you were able to bring it out! I'm just jealous that I haven't seen one so remarkable. :-)
Thanks again for sharing such a unique and insightful perspective in your photography. I hope you don't take it the wrong way, but I feel a certain kinship to someone else in the mid-atlantic area of the country!
Keep it up!
Jimmy

Bambooby reificationComment: Good shot - I like the image. It seems a little askew/crooked with regard to true horizontal though (IMHO). It is also pretty grainy. I would have scored it much higher if those two issues had been addressed, but as I said, I still like the composition a lot. (5) |

Bridge Construction over Potomac Riverby The EskimoComment: Good shot & I like the composition - it's just way off balance with regard to horizontal. Had you corrected/straightened it up, I would have scored it much higher. I know that sometimes shots are taken askew on purpose to add to the effect or mood of the image, but I didn't get that feeling here. Still, as I said, I do like the shot - it just needs a little straightening (IMHO). (5) |
