I love the texture of the old book bindings. I like the fac that there is strong directional light. But the shiny plastic covers ruin the photo in at least two related ways. First, I want to see the texture of the covers, but I cannot, Second, I don't want to be looking at shiny reflections. It's not clear to me whether there is a way to light this without glare. If not, perhaps another subject would be better.

The shell is completely gorgeous. It's perfectly lit and exposed. There's a jewel-like quality to the piece. While I cannot think of a better treatment, the great expanses of black seem, welll, just a bit too expansive.
