Primary colorsby AranchaComment: The paint on the brushes is very interesting and attractive. The parallelism of shape between the brushes and bars is interesting. And the lighting is beautiful.
There are a few quibbles one might have. The paint colors do not seem to match tha colors of the bars - for whatever reason. In fact, the bars don't seem to match - there apears to be a slightly greenish azure blue and a less saturated but more primal blue. Somehow, the way the brushes are so tightly aligned seems gratuitously static, especially because the materials in the brushes are the only sources of life in the photo - and the globs of paint obscure them. It is so artistically done that I am sure the photographer has a thousand times or perhaps a million times the training in the graphical arts as the commentator; still I feel strongly about these niggling little details... |

Pretty In Pinkby Denise22Comment: The 'guard petal' on Bishop Darlington and roses of that ilk have always bothered me for the difficulties they present photographically; this is a nice treatment. The back-lighting works especially well. Mostly, I like the soft look of the photo, but I wonder whether a little sharpening would have improved the look of the stamens. |

Sorry No Bugs Here!by SteveinnzComment: Hmm. What is a blowfly and how strong are they? Is this the new superhero? Not quite sure how the photographic representation of the can adds anything to the original piece of art.

Dandelionby rkfooteComment: Nice choice of subject; and I like the drops of moisture.
It seems that great pains were taken to produce a static, centered photo: the equal margins, the vertical stem, the horizon bisecting the photo. Somehow it seems a little too static or contrived. |

Strawberry Fieldsby longlivenyhcComment: The only fruit with the seeds on the outside... It's interesting. And I like red. Yet doesn't strike me as being something special.
One of the things I think about a lot in photographing cluster-flowered roses is 'how do I frame this so I'm not starting a new story' at the edge of the frame. In photos like this, I am inclined to feel comfortable when a small part of an object of interest is cut off - as is true for the seed at the top; but to feel uncomfortable about those cut in half or those whose majority is missing. It occurs to me that the seed in the upper left is the 'star.' It is most favored by the lighting and by its coloration, size, and features. If this were just a little closer to the "rule of thirds" line I think the photo might be stronger. All of these considerations could be accomodated by judicious cropping. |

It's about to get personal. (1:1 macro)by MrYuComment: Talk about Bug-Eyed! It's technically as good as I can imagine it might be. It's crisp, sharp and even the placement/framing of the flying insect is good. Somehow it strikes me as empty and uncompelling... not sure why. |
