INITIAL RESPONSE: Nice color, Feel like something is missing like you 'cut' the boat and .. ah hhh the shadow.

COMPOSITION-CONTENT - I think you should have shown more of the boat .. or less .. as it is it looks 'incomplete' like a part is missing. Very cluttered picture but still appealing I gues because we expect that for a boat in a port. The shadow is definitively a no and is very distracting.

BACKGROUND : As said above .. very busy background but justified, plus the eye can rest in the very nice still waters ..; the water is soo nice !!! Maybe you could have use only the water and a part of the boat.

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL- Very deep depth of field which think is good in that case, perfect exposure. I like the colors a lot they are very nice and natural.

DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - Nothing specific so ... good digital processing !!!!!

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - The boat and the weather condition you had had a great potential but I think it would have deserved a better composition (more of the boat or less of the boat) and a different angle to avoid the shadow. Do not be afraid to ay on the ground ... (not sure how the shot would have looked like but it woud have avoid the shadow).

Feeling Blue

INITIAL RESPONSE: Quick spontaneus shot. Some blue. Technical flaws (composition)

COMPOSITION-CONTENT - The composition is not very good I think. as it is , it does not tell us anything. Too bad because the expression looks promising. If it is your originial idea of composition then it should show the the person in full or you might get closer. the picture is 'tilted' without bringing anything special. (see very good comment of derekleung about the composition of your shot)

BACKGROUND : Would have deserved to be more blurred as its not very interesting to 'detacht' the person more.

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL- It's probably a 'passing shot' (pun not intended) but it would have been really better if you could have had time to copose the shot better.

DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - Looks a little noisy and maybe oversharpen a little.

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - The person was a good candidate for a nice 'people shot' if you could have take your time. As it is I think it's a little 'missed' even if you had the eye to see the potential of this person.

INITIAL RESPONSE: Very nice fireworks shot .. nice colors, fit the challenge.

COMPOSITION-CONTENT - The composition is 'nice' but could be better .. I feel lilke missing something in the bottom because this is where the fireworks come from. Some marks in the upper right corner .. a little distracting but not too much. I like the whoe firewrks with it's different area I like the 'blue/purple' 'things' in the middle upper part.

BACKGROUND : nothing special except those marks .. maybe by adjusting the contrast or curves you could have get rifd of them .. but they do not bother me that much.

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL- Missed shot, shaky shot.

DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - GOod .. no specific comments. No visible jpeg artefact or noise.

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - I like the shot a lot... Think would have prefered it 'portrait' but maybe you original shot was like this. in tha case .. not that many thing you could have done at post processing/printing.Congratulations!

INITIAL RESPONSE: Do not know what it is. Not interesting except it's blue. a pretty missed shot.

COMPOSITION-CONTENT - Blurry/shaky. the items we see at the top left and top right do not bring anything and are disturbing. Had to comment without knowing what you tried to do. Nothing interesting. You could have tried maybe with the 'leg' only, more on the right and in focus.

BACKGROUND- Nothing specific, blurry, no interesting..

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL- Missed shot, shaky shot.

DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - no comment.

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - Sorry, I think the picture is totally missed. maybe you submited the wrong shot ? I do not know. Hard to comment in that case.

INITIAL RESPONSE: WAOW. Really appealing .. blue .. Really greta picture

COMPOSITION-CONTENT - Good composition and content ... nothing to say .. the vignetting looks aproriate to me or do not bother me .. it make us looking trought the lens with you ...

BACKGROUND-None. Nothing specific .. vignetting is part of the backgroud (see above)

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL- Some noise. I have never really seen amateur astronoical picture .. but the noise seems to be very well handled in that case and give some 'atmosphere' to the shot

DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - See above .. I do not really know what to expect for such a shot.

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - A great great shot .. I would lilke to have done that one .; I am been wondering recently what scope should I get (no too expensive) to do something like that. It looks like a 20x does it. Anyway .. I like the picture really a lot . .congratulations

INITIAL RESPONSE: Nice 'flod' picture with a touch of humor. Very adequate to the challenge. Brown picture with touch of color drawing the eye.

Composition/Background :
Nice comosition (like framing the center of the picture) . Maybe would have been a little better with the toy truck not 'touching' the reflection of the house (maybe). I like the contrast bertween the gree/red and the brown of the rest of the picture. Maybe some 'unused and distracted space' at the bottom. (Maybe try to crop less to remove the bottom part and the 'block( in the reflection at the bottom. Try to crop a 640x427 for this one (maybe)

TECHNICAL : I like the exposure a little bark/somber ....it makes the picture a good 'flood documentary' picture. Good depth of field.

DIGITAL PROCESSING : Not too oversharpened wich I like , the surface of the water has details which I like.

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - I like that picture .. I do not find it 'appealing' but I like it. I wish you had done a little better in that challenge.

INITIAL RESPONSE: Not specifically appealing to me, a 'documentary' picture.

Composition/Background/Exposure :
I think the light is not very appropriate, it cast very strong shadow and the person it too 'dark'. I would have prefered to see better the face of the person to make it more 'live'.

TECHNICAL : The depth of field is appropriate to show all the elements. You did not oversharpen which I like.
Maybe you could try to adjsut the 'curve' in photoshop to enhance the details in the 'underexposed' part of the picture ?

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - I do not like specifically that picure, even for a documentary. to me this picture describe the activity correctly but it miss something that would make it really interesting.

INITIAL RESPONSE: Nice original Christmas shot. Probably nt technically easy. The pole on the left disturb me a little. NIce tones (though I do not know how to qualify the color).

COMPOSITION-CONTENT - Very nice composition and framing. ANimals are perfectly position to balance the picture. Perfect positioning, the circle of light being in the bottom part preventing the picture to look 'centered'. The pole bother me ... a little by itself but also because it is very close to the animal hean, though not touching it. However, somehow it brings depth to the picture ... probably would have prefered it on the right part (digital processing as a try).

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL- Perfect exposure .... light are not too 'blown' thought very bright , nice details in the snow ... good perimeter of light. I would say very very good exposition.

DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - Did you bring the tones through processing ? If yes very good job. Not too oversharpen to my taste

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - I like the picture, the atmosphere a lot ... outside dochalleneg I would try without the pole and with the pole on the right (if you're not agains moving things in your picture).
Very good picture.
I would have like taking that one myself ! Congratulations.

INITIAL RESPONSE: Appealing .. blue .. a little too centered ? Fit the challenge ? Some 'japanese'/zen touch

COMPOSITION-CONTENT - Nice composition/Reflection .... appropriate color (is it post processing or just natural blue being 'pushed') ? It looks a little too 'centered to me (the 'deck') but could not think about something better. Very nice touch brought by the snow.

BACKGROUND-None/Fog. Very nice foggy atmosphere. I love the fog hiding everything in the background.

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL- Nothing special. Good exposure.

DIGITAL PROCESSING - TECHNICAL - I liked that you did not 'push' the contrast. Tones of blues are nice and appropriate.

MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO - I like the 'zen' impression a lot, the quietness of the atmoshpere ... almost magical and 'oout of time'.
I would have like taking that one myself ! Congratulations.

I like it. I know you cannot do all you want here in dpchallenge, but for yourself , did you try cropping a little (just get rid of the window border part on the right, it's distracting), and rotate a little ? . 7. Lionel
