Palm Puppyby MorganComment: great depth of field on this. i really like this soft focus effect you've got going. my only nitpick would be the existance of the thumb in the photo, but i know it's probably pretty hard to hold a puppy any other way. great colors here, too. good work. one of my top 4. |

growing in the windby FranziskaLangComment: i like the depth of field and colors here, as well as the sense of motion. looks like it might have been overly sharpened to compensate for bad focus, but the shot is still very nice. good composition and positioning. nice work. |

newbieby aelithComment: this is a really nice shot, but the dark shadows take a lot away from it. you may want to try a fill flash next time to take away some of the deep dark areas, especially the one in the upper right corner. the other shadows are actually very nice and add something to the shot, but that one hurts it a lot. good focus and depth of field on this shot, though. nice work. |

Spankin' Newby NeroComment: great control of the depth of field on this shot. this is definitely a nicer and more artistic take on a newborn than most of the pictures i've seen. nicely done. |

dividendsby magnetic9999Comment: the last two comments before voting ended are priceless when taken together. it totally sums up the frustration of having your photo up for public examination. this is a good shot, kollin, but i think i liked the wider crop you posted on photosig better. |

In memory of those who perishedby arnitComment: this is a really great shot, but i have to painfully admit that i scored it middle of the road. i was swayed by two things that i've preached against on this site, and that makes me a hypocrite. i was swayed by the title and the relevance to the challenge, which didn't hit me over the head like an idiot the way i guess i was expecting it to. it's a damn shame, really, because this is an amazing photograph. but i'm tired of the mushy sept. 11th crap, and that swayed me the most. technically, this is so well done. anyway, sorry for ranting. i love you work, arni and i always come back to see what you've done and was ashamed to find my score on this so low. |

Customer Dissatisfactionby mciComment: thanks to everyone for you kind words (and to those who didn't have anything nice to say). this photo definitely got misunderstood, and that's totally my fault. one of the things i don't think many realized is that she has a phone in her hand. this photo stemmed from my recent frustrations with dealing with a big telecom company and getting absolutely nowhere every time i talked to someone new. the title ties that in. i think if i were to re-do this shot, i'd use a black phone so it didn't get blown out with the rest of the photo. if i were going to reshoot this for myself and not for a challenge, i'd take out the phone completely. oh, and just for the record - IT WAS OVEREXPOSED ON PURPOSE AND I GOT EXACTLY WHAT I INTENDED. thanks :) |
