| 09/30/2002 01:53:00 PM | The Jersey Shoreby mciComment: thanks to everyone for their comments this week. this was not the original concept i was going for when i ventured down to the beach. i got a decent shot of that concept, but decided to post this shot instead because i just thought it had a calmer, prettier feel. i was sitting on the beach taking a lot of shots and was very happy to see this family walking by against the sunset. paganini - i took about 100 shots that day, all in full manual mode. so if it's overexposed, that's my fault. i don't see it as overexposed, but it IS very tough to balance the dark beach and sillhouettes with a very bright sun. shot with a polarizing and uv filter. leveled and maybe some curves in photoshop, can't remember. |
| 09/23/2002 12:31:00 AM | Threeby mciComment: The ever enigmatic title : I liked three shots from this series which I've had printed out and will display in one of those three-panel frames. I've titled the entire series "Three", which is why this one picture carries the same name. I didn't expect so many people to actually care. Thank you for all of your kind comments. I really like this shot, and the other two that go with it (all done in the same high-key fashion). |
| 09/13/2002 09:58:00 AM | Splash!by hokieComment: very nicely done. the only thing that bothers me about this shot is the very muted color range. i feel like the whites need to be whiter and the reds need to pop more. maybe a bit more light would have helped it accomplish this. but it's a nicely executed shot nonetheless. 8. |
| 09/16/2002 11:22:00 PM | Vier Erdbeerenby mciComment: stephan - i enjoyed your comment, and plugged it into babelfish.altavista.com which actually gave a half-way decent translation for once. i actually thank you for commenting in German, because it just makes things so much more interesting :) |
| 09/16/2002 07:06:00 PM | Vier Erdbeerenby mciComment: Thanks to everyone for the comments this week. Yes, I know I left the "green bits" on, but I thought the strawberries would look funny without them, and I liked the added color. The title is German and translates to "Four Strawberries." I'm not German, and I don't speak German, but when I'm trying to come up with witty titles for my pictures, my roommate is always suggesting that I translate a normal boring title into Spanish for added artistic effect. "Cuatro Fresas" didn't really have a great ring to it, so I went with German. I've always loved the sound of the language, anyway. If anyone is interested, I edited the background and some of the blurs of this shot for a print quality version. I've posted it here: //www.photosig.com/viewphoto.php?id=307160 Thanks again for all the kind comments. |
| 09/13/2002 10:43:00 AM | Frostbiteby freetimeComment: this shot doesn't really have anything of interest going on. it might have been better as a close up macro shot of the frozen veggies. as it is, the shot is cluttered and poorly framed. |
| 09/13/2002 10:14:00 AM | pepper oneby LanSnakeComment: very simple and very elegantly done. good use of negative space and black and white. i think a tad more light could have helped this, as it loses a bit of detail in the shadows. it might have helped to give it a tonal range. 7. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/13/2002 09:54:00 AM | Left out to dryby JonniboyComment: this is very very nice. black and white yields a very artisitic look. great control on your depth of field and lighting. nicely done. 9. |
| 09/13/2002 11:11:00 AM | Sun Kisses by ShiiizzzamComment: a nice effect, but i feel like the image is really soft and loses a lot of the color range. this may have benefited nicely from a polorizing filter to give that sky more punch. overall, though, a nicely timed and composed shot. |
