A wonderfully emotive photo that was a 10 for me the second I saw it. It's a shame we can't click to add an image to our favourites during voting! I really like the simple content - the beautiful skin tone of the model and the crisp white linen. The heavily cropped composition, just including her smile but not the rest of her face or body, is very powerful. This fits the title and the singer 100 % as far as I am concerned and I think it's an absolute winner.

Well I LIKE the angle of the sign but NOT the angle of the Tour Eiffel - and the green of the sign is kind of odd... I mostly like it OK but that sign thingy at the bottom makes it less appealing to me - I think it's the base of the balloon maybe...

He's cute! I really like the expression you've captured and the composition is strong. Lighting is a little too strong for my preferences.

This is lovely and having looked at the colour version I much much prefer this black and white one. A beautiful and mysterious image.

[b[Initial thoughts[/b]
Colourful abstract with interesting background.

Composition/ Content
Have no idea what the content actually is which makes it hard to comment on and very hard to understand connection to challenge theme.
Composition is very centred, though this works well for an abstract of this nature.
Good selection of colours.

Background
I like the texture and colours of the background.

Camera Work - Technical
Very hard to judge as not sure what intention was.

Digital Processing - Technical
As above.

Fits The Challenge
Have no idea.

Your Opinion On The Photo
Interesting to look at but since I have little experience in abstract art, difficult for me to make a fair critique on.

Initial thoughts
Good colour, interesting content, composition a little static.

Composition/ Content
The content is good â I like the strong colours and the very strong connection to the challenge. The background of sarong and sand is also very appropriate.
For me the composition is a little less satisfactory â I donât have anything against centred compositions but it just seems a little boring in this case. However I do like the way the lines of the passport, book and tickets converge towards the back/ top of the image â it makes the viewpoint a little more interesting.

Background
As above, very appropriate and appealing colours and textures â wouldnât mind a touch more sand.

Camera Work - Technical
Looks good to meâ¦

Digital Processing - Technical
Dittoâ¦

Fits The Challenge
Very much so.

Your Opinion On The Photo
I like the colours and the content but find the composition doesnât feel quite right.

Initial thoughts
Excellently captured â vivid colours and strong shapes.

Composition/ Content
The content is certainly exciting â reminds me of childhood (I have family living in Florida so we visited a number of times when I was a kid â and Iâve returned a few times as an adult too). The firework itself is just superb â perfectly round â perfectly captured â very strong graphical element. Itâs position over the castle is excellent, as is the blue lighting on the castle itself.
My main criticism would be the slightly âmessyâ feel of the bottom edge of the image. I donât know whether this would best be resolved by cropping more or less at the bottom â depends what else was there â but this crop doesnât add anything to your shot. Cropping at the top is also slightly tight though doesnât detract, in my mind.
Iâd also prefer to see a larger image size to enable me to better see the detail in the castle itself.

Background
Nicely black (on my monitor anyway).

Camera Work - Technical
Light of castle and firework well captured.

Digital Processing - Technical
Seems fine â cropping is not ideal.

Fits The Challenge
Yes.

Your Opinion On The Photo
Has a WOW factor but the potential is not maximised. Am surprised it didnât rank a little higher however.

Initial thoughts
Great capture of lights in the night â quite interesting subject matter.

Composition/ Content
The position of the tower at the left is balanced by the arches at the right. I like the diagonal lines of the flight taking off â kind of surreal that only the lights and not the craft are captured⦠It feels a little top heavy on the dark area of sky but not hugely so. Point of focus for me is the pair of diagonal lines.

Background
Most of the interest is definitely in the foreground, as intended. I like that I can just make out the hills behind.

Camera Work - Technical
Well exposed. No faults that I can see!

Digital Processing - Technical
Seems fine to me!

Fits The Challenge
Most definitely.

Your Opinion On The Photo
One that grew on me as I viewed it second and third times. The content doesnât have a great impact for me but what is there has certainly been composed and captured well.
