How Sweet The Soundby jmsetzlerComment: Hello Setz
I like the intimate crop on this and the choice of black and white.
Like the motion in her hand.
EDIT: I understand it's not motion blur but the result of low DOF. It works excellently to suggest motion which is all good. |

To ink ... Or paint?by PaulMdxComment: My favourite entry in this challenge. I love the detail in the textures of both metal and brush hairs. Toned black and white looks great. Only minor minus point is the doobries at the top left and bottom right corners. Is that from a hood or just a regular zoom? |

Hit It!by L1Comment: Nice clean shot and good choice for black and white though his facial tones suffer from the proximity to that dazzling white shirt. They look kind of in the shadow. His expression doesn't convey the joys of performing which is the one thing I think would lift this shot into a truly superb one. |

The Lion Sleepsby blemtComment: Well you KNOW I have a weakness for these animals and this one is a fine specimen. The golden light really shows his fur off to it's best advantage and I like how the autumn foliage on the ground complements the colours in his mane. In terms of pose I don't think this is particularly striking as his mouth is somewhat obscured by grass and leaves and there's no eye contact or action to draw us in. |

Festival Artistryby L1Comment: My first thought was "oh my god what's happened to that kid's hand?" before I realised it must be someone else's. I think this isn't perhaps the best time to take a picture of this cutey at her best - the sunburn pink doesn't do anything for her and her expression is no doubt one of concentration and staying still to be painted but I bet she looks more beautiful when she's smiling. The red material and uneven background doesn't add anything either. Not an instrically bad picture but one that likely holds more interest for those who know her than for strangers. |

Unpluggedby hjolliComment: I like the simplicity of this entry. Composition is reasonably good but feels a touch top-heavy, even with the microphone sitting in the lower half. Black and white works well to emphasise shapes and textures. |

Variations on a Chromatic Scaleby jjbeguinComment: What an intriguing image. Something about it definitely does make me think of (sheet) music and I think the use of colour, light, shadow and composition is superb. |

Whirlwind Romanceby crabappl3Comment: This is one that caught my eye when I went through the thumbnails earlier. I like the eye contact and the background works incredibly well. Focus feels soft to me, which is something I'm particularly unfond of (is there such a word as unfond?). Good choice to go black and white. |

Before They Fallby SkipComment: I'm not usually keen on selective desats as they are nearly always done for sake of technique and not to improve the actual image but it works quite well here. |
