Clioby redmoonComment: I have searched through the challenge for those entries where the negative space is more than just a plain black or white backdrop because, whilst I think that technique often makes for some really strong and high impact images, I̢۪m particularly drawn to entries where the negative space is relevant to the subject itself and actually contributes to the impact of the picture in a contextual as well as purely compositional way.
Whilst not the kind of image I’d necessarily hang on my wall this works really well on an emotional level – it makes me feel slightly lonely, wary of walking into an empty car park on my own and yet more confident that there are less spaces for a malevolent person to be hiding – and it’s also quite a quirky portrait of life today – overtime, urban spaces, modern lifeâ€Â¦ |

I really like your urban portrait which puts me in mind of Cartier-Bresson. The horizontals of the platforms and verticals of the people and lamp posts create a strong environmental frame for the main subject and the high contrast silhouette treatment works well too. |

deltaby cheleComment: Wow, what a beautiful model - both she and the pose you've selected put me in mind of Victorian portraits, not that nudes were quite as common then! Lovely lighting - the strong shadows are great. However they do hide what she's holding to the point that I think it would be stronger without her holding anything (or with sufficient light falling on it to make it relevant for inclusion). |

Black & White by DrJOnesComment: I like the idea of using this handsome black and white couple and the (difficult) exposure is spot on - dramatic lighting too. The pose itself doesn't work for me - posed is fine but this one is just a step too contrived for my tastes. |

Tender Touchby ndsComment: Lovely composition and great use of light and shadow. Love the warmth of the light too. And the subject is a nice choice of detail - intimate and yet almost abstract. |

A calm morningby TUBORGComment: Clever use of shallow DOF and foreground details to soften the details and provide some gentle anonymity. |

Down The Rabbit Holeby grigrigirlComment: Lovely use of light and shadow... not so keen on the saturated colour though - I think that pink patch to the top pulls focus away from the model. Black and white with a single colour tone would work better for me. Great shot though. |

Chrysalisby LeeDComment: Intriguing! But even with the green edging of the cocoon the head melts too much into the background making the foetal shape incomplete and slightly odd. |
