untitledby bspurgeonComment: Interesting notes you posted on this in the film thread. Tell me more about less agitation for protecting sunlight/highlight detail (if that's what you meant).
Oh and I like the picture. I was reading something interesting and compelling today about composing the picture partially outside the frame, just like this. Some of my favorite photographs were only partially visible. Consider some of Paolo Pellegrin's stuff at Magnum. |

Humans After Allby SwordandScalesComment: I agree with Lev and with tnun. This is a superb photojournalism picture Quincy. Congratulations on a wonderful, durable photograph. Thank you.
ETA: Hope you won't think this a frivolous observation, but from a street photographer's point of view, a particular charm of this photograph is that these two guys share almost exactly the same nose! That kind of subliminal echo is what separates the extraordinary from the ordinary in our secret little corner of photography. Message edited by author 2012-03-10 10:56:44. |

Trinityby RKTComment: This is really quite wonderful. It's like one of those classic plays (am I thinking of Ibsen?) that are much more than they seem at first glance. A simple stage, a limited cast, and a single motif repeated in a succession of layers.
Trinity within trinity within trinity; like nested dolls. And you can start anywhere ... at the crucifix, at the composition, at the aspect ratio of the image itself, at the selection of objects and their relationship to each other. Even the distance between the objects is significant. There's a layer or two of metaphor, for the determined explorer. Some questions left unresolved, some sly jokes (at art, and at the self) hidden in full view.
An immensely clever, delightfully wry photograph. Thank you. 10.

WILD FIREby HOOMANComment: I really do like this because it's an anti-photography photograph that celebrates photography. Everything's 'wrong' about it of course, except that it isn't wrong at all! It is a photograph about the photograph. Thank you. 10.

The Plans They Madeby rooumComment: A very modern photograph. It turns the photograph on itself. Not exactly a self-parody though; more of a circular argument about meaning and perception. Is the photograph merely a picture of a thing, or is it itself a thing? You lean towards the latter. Me too. Thank you. 10.

pacifierby bvyComment: Much more interesting than it appears. That's not easy to do ΓΆ€“ most of the popular photographs at DPC are quite the opposite. Thank you. 9. |
