flow from without by jagarComment: The most engaging photograph in the challenge. The composition, the framing, is perfect. It has the economy of a great drawing, where no mark is superfluous, and no space however empty is squandered. Beautiful tones, elegant Euclidean geometry, and a hidden narrative throbbing just beneath the skin like a heartbeat. It's like a storyboard for an indie film, with a plot development graphic built in. Alas, it's the Order of the Thumb for you, plus a 10, plus a thank you for your photograph.

wet wall dreamsby cutoutComment: Why not? Beauty, as in truly wondrous beauty, is in what's possible rather than what's certain. What's promised rather than what's delivered. I'm pleased that you left so much of the picture up to me. Into my 7+ picks it goes, and thank you. |

water creates life water destroys lifeby mariucaComment: It's more beautiful than it looks at first. By which I mean that it is beautiful at first, but becomes even more beautiful with further contemplation. The less obvious details ΓΆ€“ the teasing horizontals; the gradient in the water cascade ΓΆ€“ turn out to be the source of this second and deeper level of loveliness. It's in my 7+ selections. Thank you. |

Shorebreakby PenelopeKComment: It's a sort of Cirque du Soleil of water. In my 7+ selections. Thank you. |

fate's been kind by jmritzComment: Fabulously unfinished. We need (I mean the world, not just DPC) a lot more unfinished pictures. And a lot less finished pictures. Almost everything is happening outside your frame, and yet it's undeniably happening. It's a wonderful artistic impulse about withholding meaning, reduced right to the very edge of absurdity, and then pulled just a little bit back into the viewer's reach. I feel like a dog whose chain just permits him to lick the edge of his bowl, but won't quite allow him to reach the nourishing marrowbone jelly inside. Into my 7+ picks you go, and thank you. |

Wadingby scarbrdComment: Wonderfully weird. Really nice water tones too. There's a submerged ninja breathing through a reed between the walker's stilts. Bonus point for the ninja, and straight into my 7+ list. Thank you. |

Rural lake & pierby MadMan2kComment: Has an alien quality. An outpost in another world. A docking station for other-worldy travellers. Certainly more than a boat launch ramp. Into my 7+ selections. Thank you. |
