Candlelightby jazzmanmgtComment: It's an OK photograph I guess, but I'm afraid I feel the subject is just not interesting enough to be worth shooting. Of course, several others also felt a candle was a worthy subject. I don't know if that vindicates my position or yours. Anyway, I can't rate it highly I'm afraid. Sorry. 4 |

[ a candlelit sight ]by saurabhsComment: This is a poor relation, I'm afraid. Been done, several times, and been done better every time. I'm afraid to me this one is just too incoherent to have any impact. The candle is evident only after the most searching examination, and the bubbles are just too slipshod to achieve the repeating pattern upon which the intended effect depends. Sorry. 4 |

"Light" Milkby melsterComment: It seems like you've taken a lot of trouble for minimal effect ... a confused mix of DP Challenge cliches, and alas it's rather poorly composed, lit and photographed as well. I'm afraid I can offer no more constructive advice than this: go outside and take a real photograph of something. Take plenty. Leave this studio rubbish to the poor souls who revel in it. Sorry. 4 |

Every Move You Make...by KDOComment: I see the effect you were after, of course, and it does make a nearly mesmerising image. So you have every right to feel you succeeded. I don't find it an appealing or even interesting image, but that's just my taste I guess. The nose shadow seems to detract a bit; looks like a rectangualr hole in his head. So, effective, but not for me. Sorry. 5 |

The Watcherby labudsComment: Not my style, I'm afraid. It looks like a poster for a cheesy fantasy movie. The photograph is very good technically (except for the starburst, which I know of course was the entire point of your shot.) I expect that you will get a lot more support from others, but for me, I'm afraid it's a 5. |

Inlet Lighthouseby muur88Comment: I feel that it's a very nice picture but somehow lacks the dramatic element that makes me want to look at it a second time. Maybe there's a more visually arresting shot over closer to the lighthouse? Getb the thing dominating the frame, maybe. It looks like a potentially high-impact structure, but loses some presence peeping over the tops of some unremarkable trees. Sorry. 5 |

Hiding from the Lightby NazgulComment: I feel I should like this more; you've gone to a lot of trouble & also taken a technically good photograph. However, it just seems a bit cold and staged to me (of course I do realise it's not supposed to be a candid shot, but it still feels unconvincing anyway). Plenty of style but not enough substance is what I'm trying to say. I may well be in the minority, of course. Sorry. 5 |

Purple Hazeby troyloxComment: It's a striking visual effect but leaves me a bit disappointed. Maybe it's my age; when you say "Purple Haze" to me I think Hendrix, and not Preppy Boy here. That's probably it; I remember the 60's, so my opinion almost certainly doesn't matter to you anyway! Actually I do like your shot of the lights, but the guy lacks a similar impact. Sorry. 5 |

The Lightby sigrun_thComment: I think this is too much in your face (pardon the pun). The subject seems so close as to be overwhelming, so that the moody & mysterious effect of your strong side lighting is diminished. It feels more like a shot of an eye and a nostril to me. Sorry. 5 |
