This is very effective & moving; a quiet despair, well captured and presented in this spare composition. 7

What is that structure? It appears to be a bullet-scarred rubbish bin for discarded school children, but that can't be right. It's a very strange photograph; interesting in a pointless kind of way. I probably don't get it, but at least it captured my attention. 6.

I think Melville might have loved this photograph (although he may have lamented the spelling of "scrivener"). The cropped anonymity, the blank wall, and the dead flowers he "preferred not to give water" are most apposite. 7

This is powerful because it's disturbing. Many interpretations are possible, none of which seem comfortable. 7.

What a brilliant composition! It looks self-evident now that you've done it, but it would have been easy to get this all wrong, and you didn't. You got it exactly right, in my view. 8

Terrific composition & light, plus the inclusion of just enough background for context, elevates a simple scene to serious art. 9

I like everything about this photograph. Its deceptively casual character makes it easy to overlook the meticulous composition and expert execution that went into creating it. Which just goes to show how very good it is; this photographer is skilful enough that it isn't necessary to show off by getting in the way of the image. Mastery & maturity. 10

I love the composition. It's a very appealing image, well seen and expertly executed. And the pigeon finishes it off perfectly. 9

There's something slightly staged about this photograph. Aha! I see what's wrong ...you don't have any bait! Bet you just bought those two fish at a fish shop. Seriously ... a very creative idea, nicely photographed. 8.
