Revenge On Authority ... Got A Match ?by ColeyComment: People are always complaining in the forums that they get no comments from voters who give them low scores. So, here goes. I'm afraid I gave this a 4, because it has nothing to do with leading lines. To me, the presence of the rail tracks is not enough, they've got to actually lead the viewer somewhere, & these don't. I suppose you could also say the girls' legs are leading lines, but that would be a stretch (excuse the pun). That actual photograph is technically competent, which is why I'm risking your wrath by explaining my low score. Sorry! |

Flightby ergatesComment: This is a beautiful image with an ephemeral feel to it. It's especially interesting in that the leading lines are nearly all that there is in the frame! I imagine your intention was to suggest the speed and direction of departure of whatever the hell it is that has almost vanished at lower stage right. If that's the case, well done; it works for me. If that's not the case, so what ... and what do I know? And it's still a beautiful image anyway! 8 |

Replaced by the Tucsonby jbsmithanaComment: This is an unusual but very effective approach to leading lines. I like the fact that the leading lines have a figurative as well as a graphic relationship with the Tucson. 7 |

Welcome . . . . watch your stepby glad2badadComment: This is a very appealing, warm & even welcoming image. Sort of a geometric abstract, but with real objects creating the shapes. Great colours, tones & textures, very good point-of-view and a meticulous crop ... all combine to create a harmonious whole. Whether it's a good example of leading lines is another matter. The several subordinate leading lines all lead to the handrail (the dominant line), which promptly dumps the viewer out of the image! However, maybe that's just MY cockeyed point-of-view. Whatever, it's a very good photograph. 8 |

Spoon by Keith ManiacComment: Congratulations, Chris. Didn't vote (couldn't face 501 entries, I'm afraid). However, this ribbon is about as overdue as it's possible to be. Your stuff is consistently some of the best and most thoughtful on the DPC site. In particular, your compositional skills are exemplary. I encourage everyone who looks at this ribbon winner to also check out the rest of your work on your profile page. |

Plate Tectonicsby Bear_MusicComment: Howdy bear. Didn't vote on Metal (501 entries was more than I could handle). This is a very well conceived & executed photograph & I'd have rated it higher. If DPC ever has a competition for the best image titles, however, you'll be rated Blue Ribbon. This is another classic. |
