Stair shadowby MelethiaComment: Very nicely constructed and presented. There's something slightly dischordant about the right hand side, but I've tried simulating other crops and none are better. So I guess it is what it is after all! And what that is is pretty interesting and satisfying. 7. |

Mob Flagby KronusComment: Wish I could say why I have come back to this several times. It must be the allusion to a flag (although I don't know what a "mob" flag is). So, I can't say why I like it, which makes me like it even more than I would if I could say why I like it. 7. |

Lumiere et Ombreby rubienneComment: One of the two best cat shots on DPC. The light, and more particularly the shadows, recall jungle light. So appropriate for a photograph that is about a cat! 7. |

Bondageby JutildaComment: Well, I particularly like the anatomical ambiguity. Do I see torso and elbow, or torso and breast? Bit of chin at the top, or bit of some other part? This uncertainty leaves a certain amount of interpretive work for the viewer, where it belongs. The idea is not totally original (what is?) but the execution is commendably restrained. 7. |

Zenby TejComment: Sometimes I think Zen may actually be an exercise in ascribing profundity to things that in fact have absolutely no significance at all. Like this. Is it deeply meaningful? Or is it just simplistic BS? Are the colours important? Are the shapes? It certainly feels satisfyingly heiroglyphic! Plus there's the tantalising fact that these leaves are kin to those that cast the shadows. All things considered I don't think this image means anything at all, but it does ask me a lot of questions, and that's far more than 99% of the images here can manage. So that must be true Zen, yes? 7. |

Go Your Own Wayby messerschmittComment: I like the black sheep best here.
And maybe he's really the one Going His Own Way?
But I don't like that particular Mac song; sounds like Abba.
I prefer their song "Go Insane" ... the black sheep again! |

Judgment Incorporatedby RKTComment: Been away for a week & so I saw nothing of this challenge until this moment.
Having seen this, I really need to see nothing more.
Technical: This is a beautiful job of exposure and toning. Composition is ruthless; a forensic photograph.
Cerebral: Demanding and confrontational as usual. I feel used! (I so love that feeling) |

sevenby whiteroomComment: Holy Moley! What is this make-up for? Is it ashes? As in sackcloth and ashes?
Whatever it is, her expression is wonderful. But that's not all; a lovely bonus for the treasure hunters is the coy body language of the woman in the background. And she is precisely spotlighted by the narrow shaft of sunlight between the buildings, just for those of us who need a treasure map. Super Duper!
Whoops! Edit to mop up a syntax spill.Message edited by author 2006-06-07 06:04:08. |

Squall over Ullswaterby ImagineerComment: Beautiful tonal control, as ever. I've just got a very good new monitor ... it's photographs like this that reassure me that the expense was justified. |

Modern Day Colosseum: The MCGby hotpastaComment: Great image of the "G" mate, especially the top half, where the stadium lighting and structure against that night sky is awesome.
I've seen some great moments there (Summertime only, if that tells you anything!). Best memory is D.K.Lillee versus I.V.A.Richards, back in about 1981 I think it was. Modern day gladiators, too! |
