Octoberby posthumousComment: I suppose I should make a wisecrack about the "bottom of the barrel", but that would be unworthy because this is unquestionably the best entry. I thought briefly of Mt Rushmore, but it's better than that (if on a less heroic scale). Perhaps The Scream is closer to the mark? Or it could be Count Orlok, I suppose. Whoever it is, it's going to keep the doctor away. I know I'll not feel comfortable biting into a pippin for a while. |

The Sky at Combers' Beachby zeuszenComment: Part of the photograph (the part holding the man's attention) is outside the frame. I recently saw another one like that, here. It's an unusual and pleasantly compelling feeling, looking at this 'incomplete' image while shuffling through the possibilities. |

by messerschmittComment: Now that's a funny comment, because I called you Don Quixote once. Do you remember that? I'm very glad to see you're still doing it, and still going your own way. |

Not another bloody party! by JudiComment: Originally posted by judi: Thanks heaps everyone for your votes.....except you pathetic low voters who like to vote under 4 for biased reasons!!! |
I gave it a 3, and in view of your quoted remark I feel compelled to explain why. First, I thought it was tacky; putting an animal into this contrived situation is to me not all that far removed from bear dancing. It is no defence that this cat may not have actually objected ... it remains exploitative and does you no credit. Second, it lacks any but the most base of aesthetic purposes. How is my world (indeed anyone's world) broadened or affected in any meaningful way by this picture of a cat in a cocktail glass? What is the point of it? It is bereft of both feeling and purpose, and for me that's a 3. I accept that few people will agree with me on this, but I'm not asking them to do so. Nor am I insulting them for how they did vote.
Please remember, I would not have spoken, would never have said a word, had you not made your offensive and presumptuous accusation in the Photographer's Comments box. |

Jake by violinist123Comment: You should have had a minus one handicap applied to all votes you get because Jake is so good looking. Nice pic with lovely lighting. 7. |

The Guardianby ar_lauraComment: This dog looks great, cradled in the hay. He's a bit soft, but when it comes to these dogs so am I. 7. |

Down Stayby k9logicComment: My dog used to look at me like that. Now he only opens one eye. I think he sighs, too. 7. |
