Nice texture, like pointillism, with horses. |

Bourbonby wyverndragonComment: My second-to-top pick* in this challenge.
I liked the array of seedy objects orbiting this guy: he fits right in. I liked the awful colours. I liked the mood: cheap, nasty and unrefined ... much like the eponymous Jim Beam. All in all, a terrific little vignette.
* I actually know who took my number one pick in this one, so I can't comment on it. But you were a very creditable silver medallist for me, and if that other person should fail a post-race drugs test (as is entirely possible) you'll move to the top step on the dais. |

The Wishing Treeby ursulaComment: My top pick for this challenge.
- It's a relief from all the banal faeries, pixies and butterflies.
- It inspires me to construct my own fairy tale.
- It reassures me that the photographer has vision.
- It's really quite beautiful, both within and without the context.
Thank you. |

S e r v r a n c k xby keyzComment: I have to believe that Servranckx would rather like this. Me too.
I don't really know how Victor might have felt: I had to look him up. But judging by his paintings (and assuming there aren't two Servranckxx, one of whom is not Vic but is a high key sculptor) I don't think he'd tear your photograph off the wall and scream some Flemish oath. This is my top pick then. Vaarwel! |

Paradise Cafeby GermaineComment: These wonderful old cafes and bars still look like this to me even when it's not in a photograph. Especially the bars. I'm even older than Ms TX'n. |

Last night's conversationby aznymComment: As I was first commenter I get to have another go, especially as you turned out to be my friend Az. I wanted to see (and so I did) the smaller plant at lower right as a circle of people seated on the ground in a discussion, under a towering evening sky. One of the people has stood and is facing away from the circle, hands in pockets, contemplating the infinite while listening with muted senses to the continuing murmured conversation behind him. The foreground plant is a yearning, a reaching for an answer, for a resolution. A quest, but as yet unfulfilled. That's as far as I got with it (I don't know the standing guy's name, for example), but it was far enough for a 10 and my top pick. |
