Winter Daybreakby Bear_MusicComment: I'm no expert on tilt shift, but this strikes me as the real thing. And a very fine photograph. And a very welcome relief from all these tedious and infantile miniatures. Thank you. |

Mystery on 34th st_6898.121611by mariucaComment: One of those great heartbeats where the camera sees what the eye does not; what was perhaps never there in quite the same way. Our minds transition these moments without processing them in quite the same way as this: we humans hurry to connect the dots, while the camera doesn't rush on to the next frame so greedily. |

0071-13by bvyComment: It's easy to overlook, in the excitement of considering the technology employed, the fact that this is a brilliant photograph. Easy to say, "oh, that's not a bad shot for a toy camera!'. But it's not. It's actually a great picture with ANY camera. And it settles the question for all time. Thank you. |

followby skewsmeComment: This seems to be my month for voting then forgetting to comment before the rollover. Sorry.
This was my only 10. It's beautiful. It has depth, both literally & figuratively.
It celebrates the magic of the photograph as an object. And it does so with breathtaking deftness of touch and understanding of what a photograph really is, both historically and artistically.
It entreats and seduces the viewer. A marvelous siren song of a photograph: impossible to ignore, dangerous and challenging to follow (perfect title, that!)
Would that more at DPC would take the risk of adventure, rather than keeping their flags timidly stuck by their own back porches!
I thank you and award a posthumous (pardon my pun) Order of the Thumb.

\\by bspurgeonComment: It the same in cooking: the simplest ingredients, prepared with understanding and clarity, will always beat pointless 'chefiness.' Bon appetit. |

Fremantle Docksby AbraComment: All those 'e's aside, this is a very lovely photograph. A familiar enough subject, but really well executed, Phil. I reckon you'd likely enjoy the magnificent Rivages series by Harry Gruyaert. |
