Deposition of Maryby LevTComment: Michelle, while it is not possible to tell from the photo, she is indeed coming down, that's why it's called "Deposition of Mary" (allusion to the classical theme of "Deposition of Christ" by Fra Anjelico, Raphael, Rubens, and many others)
as for the guy laying down, unfortunately I only noticed him in the photo... :) Typically these side structures are tombs of rich and/or famous people, but it looks like there the body was embalmed and preserved for all to see. Or maybe it is just a statue of him ... I don't know... As I mentioned before, in Mexico, they have an odd relationship with their dead. Message edited by author 2010-06-01 02:12:50. |
