Oops! There's a whole lot of face showing here. It's a very intense and interesting image, I'll give it that. :) The challenge is to "show us the essence of a person" without showing their face. Disregarding the face issue, what does 'The Enthusiast' mean? I'm really not trying to be a smart aleck here...just giving some feedback on what questions this photo raises when I look at it. They don't grow clouds THAT smooth in our neck of the woods. :D This is a nice photo although I think the subject is not a large enough piece of the message/story for a portrait themed challenge. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

Quite frankly, the first thought that came to mind when I saw this image is "Cook" or "Maid". I think it's the apron and the upright (prim) sitting position. Peeling potatos in our household is much messier than this and usually done at the sink. :D

All that aside, the image is well done with a nice range of tones. I'd have been tempted to square crop this or move the subject to center as it's nearly centered now.

It's an interesting image, but how does it portray/show the "essence" of the person? It may say more about the person on this side of the glass? Sorry, not trying to be fresh, just trying to figure out what story you're trying to tell with this photo. Good luck in the challenge.
