I like how you've kept this from being another static image of musical instruments/items by allowing a little motion blur to come into play. School days connection? Could go either way I suppose. This would have been a home run if the pencil holder was a child's hand - as is, it's somewhere between a double and triple. :P Good luck in the challenge.

Now if you only had some homework papers showing or something it would tie into the challenge theme. The blue glow of the lcd panel is spilling over into the black of the player some - a small boost in contrast might help minimize that some? The colors in this are quite warm (i.e. - the whites aren't white, they're yellow) - an adjustment to color temp/white balance could add a lot to this photo IMO. All JMO or course. Good luck in the challenge.

Looks like you lost some detail with the noise reduction, not bad, but noticable IMO. I like the lighting on the subject. A minor adjustment in curves and that faint glimmer of a doorway would have gone to black, which would help this composition some. All JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge.
