To surf or not to surf? by LevTComment: This is a nice fit for the challenge. I'm not sure on the DOF here... I feel like the bridge is too middling between in and out of focus. It's hard to say if everything in focus or just her in focus would have been better, but this kind of in the middle isn't doing it for me. Just IMO though, others may disagree. It's a great idea and concept. |

First Lightby gdkComment: You know whilst I can tell the camera is struggling in the low light I can absolutely see what you were going for here and the composition is an interesting scene. There are elements of it I would change if possibile but I think you got the challenge and this is an interesting juxtaposition of light. |

Orchidby mikeeeComment: So closed must my mind be and my composition theory so static that the idea of photographing something at the edge of the frame didn't even enter my head, but what a great idea and beautiful execution. Shows that there is more to photography than the rule of thirds. |

Quiet Sentry by ColeyComment: Congrats on the ribbon and I'm glad this was my top pick! Also good to see another shooter back after a few years away, great woodland shot and a wonderful landscape! |

musingsby NiallOTuamaComment: Congrats on the HM! I find myself coming back to look at this one more than most of the others in the contest, so whilst I stand by my original comments I sense they are evolving somewhat. There is something so captivating about this image and style. Well done! |

Stillness by RanklesComment: Originally posted by Neat: Congratulations on your first ribbon with a lovely serene shot. It's funny on first view this reminded me of a similar shot I've taken at Lake Garda, which is close by.
So is this Lake Como? and if so how wonderful if you live there, was just talking about out adventures there yesterday. |
Thank you! I'm so happy :.) So this isn't actually Lake Como, I've added details to the description above but it's a smaller lake a short drive from its more famous relative. Once upon a time the two lakes along with Lake Ceresio of Lugano formed one huge body of water before the last ice age.
I find a lot of inspiration at Lago di Piano as it's quite wild and has a lot of animals around. However I'm looking to do some shots of Lake Como in these days perhaps for the harbour challenge as there are a fair few to choose from!
Lake Garda is supposed to be quite similar and very nice, I'll have to make the trip over there some day! |

Telecommunications Towerby Bear_MusicComment: The sky is actually really nice here. Compositionally you've managed to make something interesting out of a relatively banal subject which is a great skill to have. I'd like to have maybe seen the tower itself a little brighter everything seems a tad dark. |

Steepleby DistantColoursComment: This is an unusual composition but I think it works! I love the contrast between the steeple and the snow. |

Capitol Skyby NikonJebComment: The kind of architectural/street shot I dream of being able to pick out. Good job! |

no closerby tvsometimeComment: A pin sharp shot of one of my favourite animals. Good job! I'm curious to see if another crop or composition was possible with the original, I feel this would benefit from a bit more breathing space on the right. |
