Nice colors, sharp and nice focus on the edge of the "thing" You should have dodge the bright area a little bit more, but it's not that bad. I like the lighting here, from back, the shadows are the main attraction (I know you were hoping people would like them too).
Having three dimension look on your photo is giving much better feeling rather than a flat photo.
I believe 5.8 for this photo is pretty much on target... over average. The composition got you a good points, sharpness and color also got you some more good votes.
If you had only the front end of this thing and not the back of it, I think it would look better. Don't cut it, whatever this is, but put cardboard or paper behind it, and shoot it that way. You won't have many shadows in the back, but I like cleaner photos :)
I checked your page, photos look very nice. You do have a style, develop that and you might be one of kind.
Keep up the good work, and practice without mercy :)
