Powerful image. Great detail in the snow. You have a great control over highlights and shadow.

I've seen this image about a half dozen times now and it always impresses me. I guess that the only comment I can give to it is : Add this to Favorites.

Hi Jamie.

Where this image went wrong mostly was in the sizing. For many of us here at DPC, if the image is not at least 640px on one side, then a point or two get lost right off the top. Some people simply (1) anything that isn't close to that size due to the challenges of trying to view the finer detail.

This is an image that dutifully fits the challenge and others will give a ten, simply because it fits and the image is crisp and clear. You have all the technicals down on this image, just not the 'artsy-ness' of it.

Imagine if you had been able to get right up close on this hole and shoot an angle that really dropped us into the tree...now, there I would have given some good bonus points.

Hi again Jane.
The angle you have chosen makes it feel like a castle as opposed to a condo. Good choice! Against this overcast sky, a black and white might help to really draw out the structure without bringing attention to the starkness above.

Hey Johnna!

Like this little marker. It's red really sets it apart from the rest of the image. I agree with others tho, that there seems to be too much other in the image. A tighter crop both on height and width would really focus on the birdhouse as a very prominent icon of your home area.

Nice starbursts! Did you use a filter or was this an effect of the f-stop? Good choice of crop to make the overhead lines balance out the rest of the image.

Great image. Might crop the top off a bit and lower the exposure slightly to bring out some of the snow detail (not that snow has a lot of detail, but it would give a bit of texture to the environment.)
