Excellent focus on the scales. It really shows their texture. Not that I'd want to reach out and touch them though. The little twig infront of the snake's head is a little distracting, but not much one can do about that in the Basic editing rules :-\

I like this shallow depth of field. I like the diagonal lines as well. This shot could maybe use something to provide a focal point though for a little added interest.

Interesting idea, and I think it fits the challenge. I like the composition and lighting, though the shadow line crossing the right side of the background is a little distracting.

Interesting subject and lines here. The lighting in the middle looks quite blown out to me, and the focus isn't very sharp. I'd love to see this exact same shot in sharp focus and exposed without any blown out highlights.

I think this looks good in black and white. I find the primary subject and the focus to be at odds here. The primary subject, referenced by the title, is not in sharp focus, but the background is. The background certainly helps provide reasoning for the railing, though I wish the railing was in sharper focus than the backround.

Very interesting pattern here. I'll be interested to read about how you did this. I think this shot could benefit from some cropping of the empty spaces at the bottom and top of the image.

I really like the lighting in this shot! Very nice background and focus. I definitely like the splash of green to the left, though it feels slightly awkward hanging half in and half out of the shot.
