Afternoon Showersby Keith ManiacComment: I like the increased saturation very much. One thing I notice is that the red of her collar is visible "under" the umbrella; it looks as if she had just lowered the umbrella over her head as you took the shot. Thanks for posting. |

Linear Greenby JunieMoonComment: Here's my take:
The pattern itself is very bold and effective. What hurts your shot in my opinion is (1) the blown highlights (ie the lack of any detail in all of the white areas) and (2) insufficient depth-of-field. A third nitpick that I find distracting is the background... the dull brown grasses at top and top-right don't add to the picture at all IMO and are distracting.
I do like the composition a lot, and I like the color contrast of the green louvers and the yellow bricks. The snow also adds interest and context, but it needs to be exposed properly. Don't be discouraged.... this is supposed to be fun, you know! :) Message edited by author 2006-01-04 09:24:07. |

Servant's Quartersby novaComment: Six months later I have come back to this image and considered the many comments both in favor of and opposition to the border I selected. With the passage of a little time I conclude that while I respect all opinions to the contrary, I think the border works and I'm glad I added it. Sure would have liked to top a "6" with this image, but that notwithstanding, I'm glad I submitted it as I did. Thanks for the comments. |

Tidy Catby Bear_MusicComment: All I can figure is that your challenge average was getting uncomfortably high and you threw this one in there to drag it back to earth :o). But I think I would have titled it "Scoop Away" just to be contrary - heh heh. Message edited by author 2005-10-19 13:56:11. |

rosie-staring.jpgby Bear_MusicComment: Wonderful shot just as it is, Robert. Some aspects that I like are the paper-thin space between the baby's head and mother's cheek, and also the implied line from baby's mouth to eye to mother's lips and face... really gives a feeling of depth, and evokes the sensation that I am sitting right there, and that for a brief instant I have caught Rosie's attention. You know better than I do of the few technical flaws that may exist, but who gives a rip. Captivating photo, and one that I am sure will be cherished. |
