The edges are a little soft, but overall I find the lense quite sharp for it's price.

In that case I don't understand - why go through the trouble with the old lens that you described, if almost any "normal" lens would produce a suitable canvas for this image?

You can't get very milky DOF with the (only) lens I have, or this certain look to it.
