Thanks everyone for your comments (and votes, except for the 8 jokers who gave me 2's and 3's). And in response to those who said it was oversaturated:

I'm not concerned as much with the performance of my pictures (though, admittedly, its a darn good feeling to rake in a 5.5+). I submit because I want to stretch myself to see if I can take a picture each week of two different themes, to improve myself as a photographer (which is another reason I didn't submit this picture, it wasn't really expanding my capabilities as much as making fun of the voters) |
| 11/17/2004 06:30:06 AM | Black and whiteby JondorComment: Hmm. that's an interesting concept to the challenge. the only thing that bothers me is the huge (or maybe just far inward) border. Also, the reflection of the lights and the shadows cast by them I'm not too fond of. Perhaps if you'd move the light so it cast longer shadows (that still remained in the frame) and the reflection was on the other side of the balls, it would've been better. But you earn extra points for being creative. And simple. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Nevertheless, I still like it. Symmetrical and stunning. Great capture. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Interesting idea. Would've been good for the parallel lines challenge. I like the way you can see not just hte ones in the foreground, but also distinguish the ones farther away. This probably isn't under your control, but it just seems that in the whites on the tree trunks, it's washed out and you lose some detail. Outside of that though, stunning (and dizzying) picture. |
| 11/17/2004 05:58:02 AM | MTV generation..."Oh my god, I am soooo fat"by DogAngelComment: Beautiful model, however without the title it loses the humor and just becomes a model shot. In which case, the average voter is going to vote down, because it's a model shot. But that aside, it's an excellent picture technically, There's no indecision in what subject I should look at ;o). I wouldn't have gone with the title though, I'm sure you'll get knocked around for it. It probably would've scored higher otherwise. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/17/2004 05:56:05 AM | ETERNAL LOVEby ellulsComment: An interesting composition. I just think that the palm tree, and the tree behind it, are too dark. Also, the figures don't seem to possess much much definition, there's not much contrast between the figures and the tres. It's almost like two seperate objects, and my eyes seem to switch between the two, unsure of which to look at. Still, the composition is a good idea, definitely photo worthy. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/17/2004 05:53:54 AM | Just being obstinate!by JeanComment: I would've just used the word stubborn, because as I've discovered, voters aren't the most knowledgable people ;). This is a good pose, and I think the background works well, but I think the subject should be looking up at the camera. If he were to look up at the camera, and make a stubborn face, It would assuredly exude recalcitrance :D. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/17/2004 05:49:54 AM | Dangerous curve aheadby lucascarrComment: Very good artistic use of lighting, excellent take on the challenge. I expect this one to score highly (as well as have 50 1's, 2's or 3's). The only thing I think to make this picture better would be to have her turn her hand so her fingers aren't illuminated. But still, a superb photo. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/17/2004 05:48:20 AM | Charlieby WarbyComment: Aah, it's Nam all over! This is a good candid, but the only things I'm wary about are the border, and the swing. The wsing overpowers the bottom of the image and (I believe) casts that hard shadow on his face. Still, an above average picture. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
